Responsibilities or duties
As a Senior Manager – you will be a key strategic link between the sales team and customers, ensuring that business opportunities are effectively translated into tailored wireless communication solutions. In the context of the Tejas Sales Team, this role involves deeply understanding customer requirements, industry challenges, and evolving market dynamics to design and position innovative network solutions that align with client objectives. The individual works closely with the sales team to shape winning strategies, develop compelling technical proposals, and articulate clear value propositions that differentiate the company in a highly competitive wireless market.
Additionally, the role requires leading customer engagements through presentations, solution demonstrations, and discussions that simplify complex technologies into business-relevant outcomes. By collaborating with cross-functional teams such as product management, engineering, and delivery, the Senior Manager – Presales ensures solution feasibility and seamless execution. This role also contributes to improving win rates, accelerating deal closures, and enhancing customer trust, ultimately playing a vital part in driving revenue growth and strengthening the organization’s market position.
- Acts as the orchestrator of the multi-level sales process, ensuring successful deal closure.
- Responsible for selling products, services, and solutions while building and maintaining strong relationships with customers and prospects.
- Demonstrates strong sales acumen with deep technical and business understanding of telecom domains, including optical transport networks and wireless (4G/5G RAN & core) solutions, to drive customer success and generate orders and revenue.
- Builds and leads a high-performing team comprising presales and support experts within the region.
- Leads all customer engagements, including negotiations, offer creation, and contract finalization.
- Drives business growth as the primary KPI, measured through order intake.
- Focuses on expanding new business opportunities across the East Africa region through direct customer engagement and tailored, customer-specific strategies.
- Develops and executes regional sales plans, with full accountability for customer relationships and independent sales targets.
- Manages the entire sales cycle—from initial prospecting and cold calls to final order closure—while ensuring effective daily customer engagement.
- Leads pricing strategies based on precise, account-level market intelligence.
- Manages the annuity (annual maintenance contract services) business end-to-end, maximizing on-time renewal rates.
Mandatory skills:
- 10+ years of overall sales experience with a proven track record of direct sales, selling to Internet Service Providers, Fibre Network Operators, Wholesale Bandwidth operators & Mobile Operators
- 5+ Sales experience in the East African region with particularly strong relations in the Telco industry in Kenya.
- Ability to connect and establish Senior level relationships and progressively achieve Trusted partner relationship.
- Solid understanding and knowledge of Telcom domain, Technology and Telco operational environment.
Desired Skills:
- Ability to comprehend the technical value proposition and effectively translate it into a business value position through consultative sales approach.
- Proven & verifiable track record of managing large & complex sales deals and consistently meeting or exceeding targets.
- An MBA or equivalent degree would be strongly preferred.
- Extensive travel within East Africa would be required
