JOB DETAILS:
Job Description. This position will report to the Bank's CEO and be accountable to the Credit Committee of the Board. The incumbent shall be able to build, manage and maintain relationships. The candidate will also be required to lead the entire credit department and grow the credit portfolio. The Credit Manager must decide credit limits, approval/rejection of credit applications, appropriate credit scoring models, and credit risk management. The candidate will put measures to ensure that the NPA remains below the level recommended by the CBK.

Responsibilities
• Formulate and implement general credit management policies and procedures.
• Ensure that the credit management procedure is implemented and effective. This includes origination, analysis, approval, security perfection, disbursement, and collections.
• We are providing critical information for the automation of the credit process.
• Ensure that individual loan risks and portfolio risks are well managed and kept below the Bank's risk appetite.
• Prepare well-analyzed credit reports regarding loan applications, disbursements, repayments, past-due accounts, recovery plans, and risk exposures.
• Conduct credit risk management by identifying, assessing, and monitoring risk in areas such as recovery, risk analysis, approval, and disbursement, proposing appropriate recommendations.
• Generate portfolio performance reports every quarter and present them to the Board Credit Committee. The information should show the overall performance, health, and compliance of the portfolio and should include :
• Product performance
• Portfolio migration matrix
• Sector diversification schedule -Internal lending ratio
• Internal lending ratio
• Direct the daily operations of the credit department efficiently and effectively.
• Achieve established KPIs within agreed timelines and drive staff performance, and take responsibility for overall department performance.
• Ensure the TATs of the department are met for the entire credit process.
• Report any system malfunctions and recommend system improvements.
• Ensure that the credit portfolio remains compliant with local regulatory requirements.
• Establish applicable service level agreements with internal and external parties to ensure that internal procedures or service providers do not impact the customer experience.
• Ensure that outstanding amounts are recovered and that appropriate action is taken under challenging cases.
• Coordinate the recovery process with service providers (lawyers, auctioneers, and appraisers).
• Propose predictive credit scoring models and coordinate with the engineering team to automate them.

Skills
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Banking, Finance, or any other relevant field.
• 2-3 years of experience as a credit manager or similar role in a financial institution.Hands-on experience with accounting software.
• Good understanding of credit management procedures.
• Good knowledge and understanding of CBK Prudential Guidelines, CBK Risk Management Guidelines, and the Kenyan Microfinance Act.
• Excellent analytical skills with abilities to understand automated credit systems and propose critical inputs to improve the computerized credit process.
• Excellent negotiation skills.
