JOB DETAILS:
Job Title: Relationship Officer
Reports to: Branch Manager

Job Purpose Statement
To deliver retail banking business growth, excellent customer experience and retention.
To support the Branch Manager in ensuring compliance with business and operations controls as well as accuracy in processing customer instructions.

Key Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities)
Financial & Business Growth 60%
• Prospect and recruit new business customers for the various products in the assigned branch, understanding their needs and requirements and recommending appropriate measures
• Achieve the set monthly and annual sales targets for all the products within the specified branch
• Develop more business from the existing branch clientele, i.e.
increase share of wallet by cross selling all banking products to all the existing and potential branch customers.
• Monitor market conditions and trends and constantly give feedback to management for decision making.
• Assist in identifying customer needs not met by existing products and the implementation of new products and services.
• Grow existing customer relationships and establish new ones for the branch
• Establish good rapport with customers through regular relationship visits to monitor business progress
• Manage NPLs to guarantee a clean book.
Internal Controls, Processes & Procedures 20%
• Main (A) custodian with the BM as the alternate key Holder
• Ensure dual control is strictly adhered to by self and all other staff in the branch.
• Check teller’s cash daily (intraday and end of day) to ensure all cash is accounted for.
• Monitor and reconcile office accounts to ensure entries passed to these accounts are authenticated and that no items remain unresolved for more than 2 days.
• Ensure all aspects of branch security as laid down in the bank procedure manual and other policies and circulars are strictly adhered to by all staff in the branch.
• Customer account maintenance including management of dormant accounts.
• Ensure the security of branch keys as laid down in the procedure manual as well as combinations and all relevant registers.
• Ensure staff security at all times as per laid down procedures.
• Ensure updated BCP is in place and staff have read and understood the contents.
Customer Experience 15%
• Manage customer queries, complaints and other correspondence in a timely manner and within set standards for customer satisfaction.
• Work closely with the appraisal team to structure customer deals and offer the best solutions to the clients.
• Management of the customer relationship management system
• Ensure NCBA values are observed at all times.
Learning and growth 5%
• Ensure classroom and E-Learning hours are achieved for self.
• Flexibility and ability to sit in for the BM and run business.
• Effective leave management.

Ideal Job Specifications
Academic:
• Bachelor’s Degree in business related field.
Professional:
• CPA or ACCA will be an added advantage
• Credit related course

Desired work experience:
• At least 4 years banking experience in a sales role with exposure to Customer Service and Branch Operations.
• Credit skills and Knowledge of Retail banking products.

• Computer literacy.

• Top notch understanding of the regulatory issues, reporting and operational requirement as provided by CBK, KRA, KIB, etc.
