Job Description

Job Purpose

The Accounts Assistant will support the Finance Department in managing day-to-day financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The role ensures timely processing of payments, reconciliation of accounts, and preparation of financial reports to aid management in decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and records.
  • Process invoices, receipts, payments, and other financial transactions.
  • Maintain and update accurate ledgers, journals, and accounting systems.
  • Reconcile bank statements, supplier accounts, and petty cash balances.
  • Support payroll preparation by collecting and verifying employee data.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (PAYE, VAT, SHA, NSSF, etc.).
  • Assist in internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
  • File and maintain accounting documents for easy retrieval.
  • Provide administrative support to the Finance Team.
  • Perform any other accounting or administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA Part II or higher is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in accounting software.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools.

  • Accuracy and timeliness in processing financial transactions.
  • Quality and completeness of reconciliations and reports.
  • Compliance with statutory filing deadlines.
  • Level of support provided during audits.
  • Efficiency in managing and organizing financial records.
