A Building and Construction Teacher's primary duties involve developing and delivering practical and theoretical instruction on construction trades, including planning, safety, material selection, and practical skills like carpentry, masonry, and plumbing.

Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging lessons that combine theoretical knowledge with hands-on training in areas such as blueprint reading, material selection, safety protocols, and various trades like carpentry, masonry, and electrical work. Practical Training: Supervise and guide students in practical activities, ensuring safe use of tools and equipment on construction sites and in workshops. Site Preparation: Instruct students on how to prepare construction sites, tools, and materials for various tasks, including cleaning, debris removal, and setting up bracing or scaffolding. Student Assessment & Feedback: Evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback to help them improve their technical skills and theoretical understanding. Safety Management: Ensure all students adhere to health and safety regulations, conducting risk assessments and creating a safe learning environment. Career Guidance: Advise and assist students with career planning, resume building, and identifying relevant employment opportunities in the construction industry. Industry Liaison: Collaborate with industry partners to gain guidance, materials, and ensure the curriculum remains relevant to current industry standards and advancements. Record Keeping & Administration: Complete administrative tasks to support the smooth operation of workshops and programs.

Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of building trades, construction systems, and the ability to interpret and apply technical information like blueprints and material specifications. Communication: Ability to clearly explain complex concepts and provide personalized guidance and feedback to students, as well as communicate effectively with staff and industry partners. Patience & Mentorship: A patient and supportive approach is crucial for guiding students through the learning process and helping them build confidence. Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot common issues that arise in construction projects and to teach students how to approach these challenges. Adaptability: Capability to adjust teaching methods and provide differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of individual learners. Leadership & Management: Skill in managing a workshop environment, supervising student activities safely, and fostering a cooperative learning atmosphere.
