JOB DETAILS:
Clinical Practice Educator, Intensive Care Unit

Responsibilities:
1. Leads the team in development, implementation and monitoring of unit based clinical policies and procedures
2. Guides nurses in the assessment of patient care needs and the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions
3. Identifies learning needs of the nurses and assumes responsibility for development and implementation of unit based in-service programs for all nursing staff
4. Makes daily rounds of all patients in the unit while reviewing patient allocation to determine correct patient assignment to the nurses
5. Ensures that all documentation related to patient care is done as well as ensure that staff are familiar with the documentation policy
6. Participates in the Nursing Division Nursing Quality Assurance audit program
7. Guides nursing staff in initiation of and participation in Hospital-wide as well as Unit-based nursing research projects;
8. Ensures a monthly report of learning activities and spot checks are submitted to the relevant entities on time
9. Takes lead in unit based continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) projects.

Requirements:
1. Registered nurse (KRN/M; KRCHN) committed to a BSc-Nursing degree programme.
2. Current licensure with the Kenya Nursing Council
3. Computer and the Microsoft office packages proficiently
4. Certification in BLS, ACLS, ATLS will be an added advantage
5. Minimum of five (5) years clinical nursing experience in an acute care teaching hospital.
6. Minimum of two (2) years continuous experience in a busy Critical Care unit.
7. Must possess teaching abilities, leadership qualities, professional judgment, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, and a sense of professional development.
8. Demonstrate evidence-based knowledge of current practices in critical care nursing.
