Brief Description
Detailed Description
An officer at this level will work with the guidance of a Principal Officer Security. The duties and responsibilities for this position shall entail: -
- Attending the Authority’s Security Team meetings, the Sub-County Security Committee and other local Security Committee meetings on absence of the Principal Officer, where the Authority has vital installations,
- Support Supervision of Control room Officers and Contractual Security staff,
- Providing support in carrying out tests to ensure optimal security measures are in place. This includes conducting security sweeps, penetration tests, intruder detection and alarm response tests, security surveys and internal security audits,
- Preparing draft requisitions for provision of security escort services: This may involve liaison with the Kenya Police,
- Receiving morning call-ups and Situation Reports on daily basis and as when required.
- Executing periodic inspection of existing security equipment in all facilities,
- Collecting and collate information on security threats and matters and share with Manager Security,
- Inspecting and ascertain that the Fire Marshals daily logs are properly updated,
- Inspecting and sign on daily basis, both Supervisor’s Handing over/Taking book and the Occurrence Book at the Main Gate and Control room respectively,
- Supporting the Authority’s Staff through liaising with law enforcement agencies, on resolution of matters that require such intervention,
- Assisting in preparation of Health & Safety reports,
- Supporting the enforcement of health and safety procedures by all staff including fire drills,
- Ensuring the Fire Exit Routes are clean and usable to enforce safe working practices amongst the employees and contractors within the Authority’s premises,
- Supporting the implementation and compliance to the Authority’s fire and safety policies,
- Performing Secretariat duties in HSE and Fire Marshals Committees.
Job Requirements
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Public Administration, Business Administration, Political Science/Governance or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution,
- Attained at least (6) years’ relevant work experience three (3) of which should have been in the grade of Administration Officer I or in a comparable position,
- Membership to a relevant professional body where applicable,
- Certificate in Computer Applications,
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results,
- Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

- Government Regulations pertaining to law enforcement,
- Strong communication and reporting skills,
- Interpersonal and negotiation skills,
- Team player and Integrity.
