Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) Facilitator
Facilitator for capacity building on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) refugees of reproductive age in Nairobi.

Background
HIAS is an international non-profit organization that stands for a world in which refugees find welcome, safety, and opportunity. HIAS’ operation in Kenya was established in 2002 with the mission to serve the most vulnerable refugees through community-based protection including Mental Health and Psychosocial support (MHPSS), Gender Based Violence (GBV) Prevention and Response, Resilience building, Child Protection and the provision of durable solutions.
The overall goal of HIAS’ global GBV Prevention and Response programming is for forcibly displaced refugee women, girls, sexual and gender minorities to pursue their potential and to access their human and legal rights, free from violence and oppression. HIAS GBV programming works to ensure;
• Forcibly displaced women, girls, sexual and gender minorities face a reduced risk of GBV,
• Survivors of sexual and physical violence have access to coordinated psychosocial, health, and legal services,
• Family, community, and institutions support refugee women, girls, sexual and gender minorities in accessing and using their rights.
With funding from The Swedish Association for Sexuality Education (RFSU) the “*Improved access to, and uptake of, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for LGBTQ Refugees of Reproductive Age in Nairobi*” project, being implemented by HIAS HRTK aims to achieve the following:
• § Improved enabling environment among LGBTQ refugees in Nairobi to access SRHR services.
• § Enhanced capacity of LGBTQ refugees to address their SRHR issues
• § Enhanced capacity for LGBTQ Community Based Organizations (CBOs) to advocate for their SRHR in Nairobi

The Purpose Of The Facilitation Role.
HIAS Kenya is looking to engage a trainer/facilitator to conduct 4 different trainings through the year 2022. The trainings are as follows: 3 days virtual training, 3 days face to face training, 2 days face to face training and 2 days virtual training. The trainings are meant to build capacity and enable different groups such as frontline health providers, Community Health Workers, HIAS staffs, LGBTQ community and community leaders support LGBTQ community access SRHR services in Nairobi.

Outcome of the training will support the following project activities.
• Train healthcare workers, frontline service providers including HIAS community workers, community health care workers linked to facilities and community members linked to the LGBTQ-led CBOs), and community leaders on handling and addressing the SRHR needs of LGBTQ refugees.
• Capacity building for refugee partner agencies, refugee protection monitors and SRHR focused agencies to provide integrated sexual and reproductive health services to LGBTQ refugees.
• Train LGBTQ refugees as trainers (ToTs) in Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE)
• Train LGBTQ protection monitors to conduct monitoring of interventions regarding sexual reproductive health rights & HIV/AIDs.
• Facilitate trained LGBTQ refugees to train other LGBTQ refugees on Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE).

Methodology And Scope Of Work
In close co-ordination with HRTK, the consultant will implement the following tasks:
1. Design the training resources:
a. Develop the training content for the trainings to be delivered through interactive activities, methodologies, and discussions
b. Draft the methodology, training content and schedule and submit to HRTK for review and approval
c. Finalize the methodology, training content and schedule as approved by HRTK project staff
1. Conduct trainings:
a. Conduct the trainings based on the approved methodology and training content/ schedule,
b. Produce training report in collaboration with HRTK staff.
The trainings shall have a mixed method of delivery; some will be conducted remotely and where applicable, some will be conducted, in-person, in strict adherence to the Government of Kenya (GoK)’s guideline on prevention of COVID 19.

Expected Outputs And Deliverables:
The following will be the expected deliverables and outputs of the engagement:
• Work plan for developing the training, and proposed methodologies. Sharing training agenda and content with HRTK team for reviews). The facilitator should be able to undertake some of the tasks concurrently to fit within the planned HIAS work plan and timeframe, without compromising the quality of work expected
• Soft copies of all presentations and training notes.

Time Frame
The overall engagement is expected to cover the duration of 2 weeks, including the preparation of the training, 2 days training and report writing.

Institutional Arrangement
Responsibilities
HIAS will be responsible for the following:
• Overall coordination
• Technical and operational support required throughout the training process.
• Technical review of all training content, tools and reports.
• HIAS will also oversee the coordination and logistics of the in-person and remote trainings.

The facilitator will be responsible for the following:
• Developing of training resources, reviewing existing information, preparing training outlines and objectives.
• Developing of an appropriate methodology for the training specifically one that is participatory.

Facilitator’s Competencies, Experience And Skill Requirements:
• Individual with demonstrable experience in SRHR trainings to diverse populations, including the LGBTIQ community.
• Prior experience in developing participatory training resources and completing trainings.
• Experience in providing training to diverse population with outcomes of improved access to SRHR services
• Substantial track record in working and supporting mid-level health providers to provide comprehensive sexual reproductive health services to key populations, specifically, the LGBTQ community.
• Experience in remote capacity building on SRHR with great understanding of ethical considerations and cultural diversity when conducting trainings.
• Experience in working in Humanitarian sector and with refugees in urban setting preferably in Kenya.
