Our Story

The Zuri Initiative is a unique and hybrid model of Social Enterprise that combines a social business, a not-for-profit entity (The Zuri Trust) and social capital credits (SoCCs).

We are creating a community of women who work towards empowering themselves, as well as those around them. By believing in themselves, and each other, we are creating a supportive network of global citizens.

The Zuri Initiative aims to empower women by involving them directly in the production and retail of hair-care products to the mass market. The women retain any commission earned from the sales. This initiative provides women with the opportunity to enhance their skills in production, entrepreneurship, marketing and sales. The women receive support through training sessions and workshops specifically designed to enhance their skill set.

In addition to the hair-care products, the Zuri Initiative wants to acknowledge the positive contribution made by women in the local community and reward them through a network of "social capital". We want to recognise the efforts made by women in the community and hopefully inspire future generations to cultivate the habit of "doing good" as part of their ethos. The idea is to do good an earn SoCCs. The latter concept is created by Asia Initiatives, our partners.
