To offer sustainable quality, preventive, curative and supportive service , to enable people enjoy optimal wellness and abundant life leading them to Christ the Chief Physician to experience full and free salvation and give them hope of His soon coming.

ORIGIN

It was founded by Missionaries in 1940s; Mr. Bartlet, Mr. Duke (Bwana Duke), Mr. Philip Ndede. The area, Ranen was arrived at after meeting Chief David Ojuok whose jurisdiction covered Kamagambo and Sakwa. The area is also good considering its visibility being on a hill, plenty of water, good land for cultivation and livestock keeping besides being good for evangelism and health education.

CONTRIBUTORS

The contributors to the history of the facility are Mr. Silas Omulo Abok and Pr. Mathew Kwasi (Health Ministry Director the year 2016-2019) who gathered information from different people, eye witness who among them were workers, native of Ranen area, former students of Ranen.

Former buildings were done by a young man whom the natives of Ranen branded the name Bwana Duke (Mr. Duke) from wire SDA church in Kenya Lake field.

NURSES AND NURSING CARE

It first begun with nursing done by Mrs. Parpeture, she was trained as a nurse from Gendia mission hospital and Lydia the wife of Mr. Duke.

CHRISTOPHER ONYUNA 1970-2003

Worked with staff such as Eld Joseph Angira 1980-84 literature evangelist, 1985-2020 support staff at Ranen Health Centre who retired based on service record of 40years.

• He helped upgrading Ranen Dispensary to Ranen Health Centre.
• Trained his wife Teresa Onyuna to offer nursing skills.
• He worked on fencing and building the hospital structure from semi permanent to permanent.
• Received Ranen health Centre hospital ambulance from the late Hezekiah Oyugi Ogango after good medical service delivery.

THE IN CHARGES

Mr. Philip Ndede from Karachuonyo was appointed the first facility in charge due to increased number of clients. He was trained at Gendia mission hospital and worked between 1949 1958. Subsequent in charges are Christophe Onyuna(1970-2003), Colince Onyango, Daniel Okal, Stella Nyambati, Mary Opiyo, Pr. Maurice Asango (currently the health director Ranen conference) and Mr. Livingstone Oguta (the current facility in charge from 2019).

The facility undergone a lot of transformation and development built upon previous leadership but more so due to current (from 2016) conference leadership.

CURRENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRESS AND SOURCES FUNDS.

Improved laboratory services, X-Ray and Ulrasound, consultation clinics, NHIF Services, Outreaches, more professionals; Laboratory technologists, Clinical Officers, Nurses, Radiologists, Medical Officers, infrastructure; 56 bed capacity story ward, landscaping, improved patient care and well equipped pharmacy.

New ward

Funded by donor after effort from the conference president. Ground braking done in 2021 structure completed in August 2022 and dedicated together with radiology unit on 19th August 2022 by Pr. Blessius Ruguri of ECD, Pr Samuel Misiani of West Kenya Union and Pr. Berrin Ngore Ranen Conference President.

Reasons for establishment of the new complex ward

•  Sustainable increase in staff revenue.
•  Marked increase in number of clients across all departments.
•  Improved diagnostic services such as laboratory and X-Ray and Ultrasound.
•  Increase in number of staff from 21 in 2018 to currently 32 in beginning at the year 2022.
•  Regular support supervision from Awendo sub County and NGO’s besides mobilization by Kadera Lwala Community Heath Volunteers
•  Efficient and effective Health Board chaired by Ranen Conference President, Ps Berrin Otieno Ngore. Who also sourced for a donation for both landscaping of 2021 and the new ward, dedicated on 19th August 2022.
•  Active Project management committee members such as Pr. Duncan Wawo (chairperson), Pr. Mourice Asango health director,Mr. Livingstone Oguta (Facility In-Charge also secretary), Mr. Luckas Ojuka the facility accountant, area chief Mr. Mourice Osore and other members of the committee.
