Underwriters
Applications are invited from appropriately qualified candidates for the position of Underwriter in the Underwriting Department.

Position Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating, pricing and prescribing the terms to apply on risk proposals so as to deliver the desired loss ratio and profitability. To update underwriting information into the system and generate debits, endorsements and Policy documents.

Key Deliverables:
1. Risk assessment in line with the set underwriting guidelines
2. Issuance of certificates upon receipt of request from clients in line with the credit control policy
3. Ensure all the premiums are correctly debited to reflect in the months production
4. Following up and reporting on motor certificates declarations
5. Prepare and process debit notes, cover notes and policy documents
6. Process renewals and endorsements
7. Reconciliation of underwriting issues
8. Process and dispatch of renewal notices 2 months prior to policies’ expiry period
9. Following up on motor valuation reports before issuance of annual cover
10. Respond to customer and intermediaries’ enquiries through emails, phone calls, within the shortest turnaround time.
11. Generate and share quotations with prospective clients in a quest to acquire more business
12. Prepare and dispatch debit/ credit notes, account reconciliation statements
13. Process and dispatch of AA membership cards to clients and intermediaries
14. Cancellation of policies due to non-payment of premiums.
15. Ensure proper filing of client information for easy retrieval of documentation when required
16. Support the business development team in marketing and business acquisition.
17. Prepare the Underwriting reports within the set timelines
18. Recommending survey for properties

Requirements:
Applicant should have:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business or in a related field
2. Up to Two (2) years’ relevant work experience
3. Professional Qualifications
4. Progress towards CII or IIK (Required)
5. Basic knowledge of regulatory requirements and processes by AKI and IRA

a) Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: -
i. recording dictation in shorthand and transcribing in typewritten form
ii. using and managing e- office to process data;
iii. Operating while ensuring security of office equipment, documents and records including classified materials, legal correspondences and MOUs;
iv. attending to visitors/clients as well handling telephone calls or customer inquiries complaints or appointments, handling protocols and confirming travel itineraries;
v. coordinating schedules, planning and organizing meetings, workshop/conferences and seminars;
vi. establishing and monitoring procedures for recording correspondences by maintaining an up-to-date file movements system
vii. Perform accurate preparation of responses to routine correspondence and where necessary conduct legal research and analysis in consultation with relevant management staff while maintaining confidentiality and integrity. viii. Compile, proofread and revise drafts of legal documents and reports by Interpreting laws, rulings and regulations in legal documents.

i. served in the grade of Office Administrator or in a comparable position for a minimum period of three (3) years;
ii. Bachelors Degree in Secretarial Studies or Bachelor of Business and Office Management from a recognised institution
OR
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences plus a Diploma in Secretarial Studies/Paralegal
Studies from a recognised Institution iii. Certificate in Supervisory Skills lasting not less than two (2) weeks from a recognized institution;
iv. Demonstrated proficiency in computer use and applications; and
