Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible;
• To advise and assist the HRM and other persons involved in planning, organizing, controlling and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for work.
• To implement the company Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and develop local work procedures to comply with legal obligations
• Maintain the workplace risk register, and ensure that risk assessments are completed for all activities with significant risks – This is for all areas as far as HSE is concerned.
• Investigate reports of accidents, dangerous occurrences both occupational and environmental (this shall include all occurrences including near misses) and fire damage, determine their causes and make recommendations for improving recurrence prevention and controls
• To ensure that all accidents are properly investigated by HSE committee, and that lessons learnt are shared across the sections
• To maintain a system for recording, reporting and investigating injuries, accidents and dangerous occurrences. Provide statistical summaries to the Health, Safety and Environmental Committee and draw attention to significant trends and occurrences.

• To ensure that all accidents and incidences are properly investigated by HSE committee, and that lessons learnt are shared across the sections
• To maintain a system for recording, reporting and investigating injuries, accidents and dangerous occurrences. Provide statistical summaries to the Health, Safety and Environmental Committee and draw attention to significant trends and occurrences.
• To identify the training needs of staff as per the training matrix, and liaise with managers to nominate staff for training courses on HSE.
• Ensure that staff and contractors are inducted, as per the Safety Procedure on Induction and Training
• Ensure staff moves and relocation are risk assessed and planned; and monitor that equipment and materials purchased are appropriate and meet safety standards.
• Ensure that Health, safety and Environmental issues are addressed at the planning stage of any refurbishment or project work. Attend pre-contract meetings, progress meetings with project supervisors, contractors and other relevant meetings as required.
• Ensure Fire Arrangements are maintained in good order and fire drills are carried out on all premises.
• Prepare and coordinate the Occupational safety health, Environmental, Fire audits, and the audit process. Monitor that audit
• Prepare periodic reports on progress with management plan and other reports for the health safety and Environmental committee.
• To implement safety procedures that will guide employees to work safely
• Ensure employee safety training is conducted as required by Company Policy.
• Performs any other duties as may be assigned by management from time to time.

Qualifications
Essentials
• Bachelor’s degree/diploma in environment related discipline/ occupational health and safety/Any Related Field
• Knowledge of County and National occupational health and safety and EMCA (NEMA)legislation
• Experience with manufacturing sector
• Professional training in HSE

Also Desired
• Demonstrate understanding of Good Manufacturing practices
• Effective planning and decision-making skills.

Relevant Experience
• Desirable experience of over 3 - 5 years in a similar position
• Good command of English with negotiation skills
• Very good technical and operational knowledge.
• Highly developed organizational skills
• Drive, passion & commitment to make change leading to continual improvement on HSE Matters
