Job Description/Requirements
Bethesda Healthcare Services in Nandi Hills seeks to employ a Pharmacy Technologist.The incumbent will be based in the Kobujoi branch and will be responsible for preparing medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders, detecting therapeutic incompatibilities; dispensing medications and controlling medications by monitoring drug therapies and advising on any side effects.

Job Responsibilities
• Receive written prescriptions or refill requests and verify that information is complete and accurate.
• File prescriptions that have been filled.
• Establish and maintain patient profiles, including lists of medications taken by individual patients.
• Order, label and store incoming supplies, verify quantities against invoices and inform supervisors of stock needs and shortages.
• Compute charges for medication dispensed to facility patients and enter data in the system.
• Dispense medications and pharmaceutical supplies to patients, nursing stations and other departments.
• Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed medications and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; removing outdated drugs.

YOUR JOB
• You are a member of the Integrated Health Team, servicing the International Organisations. More specifically you’ll take part in the CARE team, a team of non-clinically trained staff, and close work together with the CARE teams worldwide (Antwerp – Madrid – Kuala Lumpur – Singapore - Greenock – Nairobi)
• You are responsible for the timely sending of all Guarantees of Payments together with your colleagues. The Guarantee of Payment is a confirmation towards the hospital regarding length of admission, treatment and insured amount. To be able to provide this confirmation, the following steps are necessary:
• You analyse requests for medical treatments and hospitalizations. You verify the patient’s extent of cover, our relationship with the provider, the need for medical review and the costs. You monitor the file from an administrative perspective and work in close cooperation with the Care Coordinators and Case Managers.
• You have frequent contacts with medical providers and individual insured, mainly by phone, to obtain all necessary information.
• You are the focal point of contact for hospitals regarding all their questions related to the Guarantee of Payment.
• All our clients and medical providers are internationally located. Therefore you manage the English language well, both spoken and written.
• You will be required to work flexible shifts: day and night as needed

YOUR PROFILE
• You are fluent in English, both spoken and in writing. Knowledge of another language is required.
• You work in an accurate and independent way.
• You can work against deadlines.
• You are stress resistant.

EXPERIENCE:
• At least 5 years of work experience with the Government of Kenya, public health institutions, or international NGOs/donor agencies in public health practices such as program design, implementation and evaluation, community intervention, public health management, delivery, or operational research. Minimum of four years’ experience above must be in HIV/AIDS, STI, TB, Malaria, or related infectious disease field.
• Additionally, 4 years of management experience is also required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:
The job holder must have knowledge of the principles of public health planning, implementation, and evaluation of HIV/STI/TB prevention programs; knowledge of the methods, process, and techniques used to develop and deliver public health programs; knowledge of key players in HIV/AIDS program implementation in Kenya, knowledge of principles of quality management systems for medical laboratories, health programs economic evaluation design concepts, knowledge of key principles for private public partnerships, knowledge of management concepts and practices used by organizations engaged in international health or health related endeavors. As a senior LE Staff in the office, must be thoroughly familiar with the USG/FSN employment system and with PEPFAR guidelines, practices, and the current Country Operational Plan process.
