JOB DETAILS:

This is a senior manager role responsible for team management, oversight, and coordination within the Transaction Services team. The overall objective is to apply working knowledge of operational and technical concepts, to recommend process improvements, manage personnel and complete team deliverables efficiently

Responsibilities:
• Leadership of a team of employees engaged in performing routine processing and reconciliation tasks
• Support to various units within the operational units.
• Advise and resolve non-routine issues within cash & trade operations
• Capacity planning, Training management, leave management and Performance management as may be required.
• Recommend new work procedures that will increase operating efficiency. In addition, Design/Review procedures from time to time to ensure they are current and address Customer needs, legal requirements
• Apply basic comprehension of how cash management integrates within cash & trade operations to recommend/resolve solutions to complex issues
• Ensure team meets Key performance Indicators and quality expectations of assigned tasks
• Management/Oversight of outsourced processes
• Management of Departmental accounts, including booking, follow-ups and prompt liquidation of Sundry, Account Receivables and Suspense Accounts.
• Implementation of Projects and Process Improvement within the country and region.
• Train and develop back- ups within the departments for continuity of business.
• Provide Feedback to Citiservice & banking and product on Related Customer Issues
• Provide capable back up to other Unit heads on a regular basis, within the cash, clearing and payments units
• Engagement in industry assignments within the payments space
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

• 5 years and above of experience in a related cash and trade operations management and leadership role

Responsibilities
• Responsible for monthly close, preparing journal entries, reconciliation, and variance explanation.
• Timely preparations of the TB functions- ensuring all accounting transactions are performed correctly on time.
• Timely preparation of Cost accounting functions- Inventory reconciliations and signoff by relevant manager, Fixed Assets accounting.
• Enter transaction accurately in the accounting system
• Perform regular supplier invoices and payments reconciliation.
• Reconcile financial transactions every month, basically TB reconciliation.
• Validate and reconcile inventory and fixed asset accounts
• Prepare the monthly cash requirement for KKL based on different project pipelines.
• Liaise with the department head to collect data for preparing budget and forecast.
• Ensure data accuracy in QuickBooks

• Initial preparation year-end financial statement in readiness for the audit.
• Ensure weekly bank statements shared by CEO are properly reconciled with the bank statement
• Timely preparation of Staff expense reconciliation and analysis bimonthly or monthly, and forward to management for approval prior to posting in QuickBooks.
• Check cost centre expenses and compare them against budget
• Count petty cash weekly

Requirements
• Bachelor degree in accounting is required, Masters preferred
• Must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in general or tax accounting, 3+ year experience in a manufacturing setup.
• CPA or ACCA certification A MUST
• Advanced knowledge of excel and familiar with Quick Books
• Punctual, reliable and must have strong communication skill
• Knowledge in GAAP
• Expert in the computer ledger system
• Able to function in a team and possess the strong problem-solving skill
• Strong financial accounting experience and public accounting experience preferred
• Excellent communication and presentation skill is required

Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide leadership in overall financial management in the preparation of the Sacco’s financial statements, budget formulation, and Sacco investment strategy.
• Formulation of sound financial management, accounting and investment strategies, policies, procedures and systems that ensure effective control and accountability for the Sacco’s resources.
• Preparation of timely, consistent, and accurate financial statements in accordance with the Sacco’s policies and procedures and statutory reporting.
• Interpretation of financial information to the Board and Management.
• Coordinating the development and monitoring of the implementation of the Sacco’s strategic plan.
• Preparation and execution of the investment plans for the Sacco.
• Monitoring and evaluation of investment portfolios to ensure investment performance is tracked and appropriate measures are taken to ensure adequate returns on invested funds.
• Timely reporting on investment performance to ensure appropriate action for optimal portfolio performance.
• Forecasting of cash flow requirements to ensure excess funds are invested in approved investments and are available as and when required for disbursement.
• Preparation of economic reports.
• Analyzing market and competitors’ trends.
• Monitoring cash flows and conducting forecasts that provide guidance to the Sacco in planning and decision-making.
• Establish good working relations with professionals (bankers, auditors, or statutory organizations) and regulators such as SASRA that support the growth of a vibrant financial institution.
• Manage the Sacco’s budgets against actual performance and advise the board and senior management on modalities to maintain growth and the long-term financial goals of the Sacco.
• Update the Sacco Board and management on changes in legislation or regulations that may affect business operations.
• Ensuring the Sacco’s assets and liabilities are safeguarded.
• Management of staff payrolls.
• Coordination of tender documents, procurements of goods and services, and disposal within the Sacco.
• Ensuring insurance payments, rent payments and other logistical operations within the Sacco.
• Approve payments i.e. petty cash, supplier payments, and salary payments.
• Oversee operations of staff in the department.

Qualifications
• A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• A master’s degree is an added advantage.
• A professional accounting qualification CPA K or ACCA.
• At least 5 years of experience in financial management in a financial institution.
• Sound knowledge of deposit-taking saccos and the regulator’s (SASRA) guidelines governing deposit-taking saccos.
• Must be a bonafide member of ICPAK.
• Other professional qualifications are an added advantage.

Education
• An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in finance, business administration, management, accounting or other related discipline is required. • Qualifications in an internationally recognized professional accountancy body such as Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Certified Public Accountants (CPA) or equivalent is desirable.

Work Experience
• A minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional experience in finance, business administration, accounting, programme management is required.
• Working experience in programme management managing complex/multi-donor budgets with great independence and decision making is required.
• Work experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is required
• Experience with Trust Funds management, Financial and Administrative Framework Agreement (FAFA) agreements and SAP/Umoja/IPMR is desirable.
• Work experience within the United Nations system or an international organization is desirable.
• Experience managing EU grants is desirable.

Languages
• English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.
