DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of the DVC-AA will include, but not limited to:
• Formulating and implementing policies, regulations, standards and guidelines that create a framework for academic excellence, and the effective management, implementation and evaluation of academic programmes of the University.
• Active participation in the development and oversight over the strategic direction of the academic functions of the University, as demanded by a dynamic, ambitious institution.
• Development and implementation of student-centered, innovative and impactful programmes.
• Overseeing the recruitment, development, motivation, empowerment, and retention of faculty and other support staff.
• Developing, implementing and monitoring quality assurance systems that will enable RU continue to meet and exceed the highest standards of teaching, learning and scholarly outputs.
• Ensuring the University achieves and maintains the highest levels of local and global accreditation for its programmes and activities.
• Developing and maintaining collaboration and linkages with local and international institutions, industry, government, and the wider society.
• Planning, coordinating and evaluating the optimal use of instructional facilities and resources of the University in liaison with the Vice Chancellor, Deans, Heads of Departments and Programme Leaders.
• Any other responsibility as assigned by the Vice Chancellor and other relevant organs of the University.

ACADEMIC/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & WORK EXPERIENCE:
• Ph.D. degree or equivalent from a recognized University.
• At least 7 years’ working experience in a recognized University at a senior level. (Dean, Principal / Deputy Principal of a Constituent College, Head/Chairperson of an Academic Department, among others)
• Must have demonstrable leadership through mentorship, research work, and/or knowledge dissemination.
• Must have an exemplary scholarly record as demonstrated by excellence in teaching and/or publications.
• Must show evidence of active engagements with diverse stakeholders such as establishment of partnerships, winning of grants, membership in professional associations, participation in conferences, service to communities, among others.
• Must have taught or supervised students at undergraduate or graduate levels.
• Should demonstrate knowledge of the structural and legislative provisions that govern the administration of University education in Kenya.
• Industry experts with teaching experience, and East African citizens in disapora are also encouraged to apply.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Deliver instructor-led sessions, monitor student progress during training, and provide support and advice to enable the students to gain competence in the units taught,
• Actively monitor and respond to the School’s curriculum development initiatives at international, regional and local levels,
• Under the guidance of the Dean participate in the development of curricula for the School of Law programs,
• Act as a subject area expert and participate in providing advice and support for new projects within the department,
• Assist in identifying research and scholarship opportunities and actively participate, in the development of proposals, funding concept notes, and organizing conferences.
• Assist in organizing and guiding students to participate in community service, and platforms that enhance student participation, learning, and professional development,
• Work with the Dean, and other colleagues to develop and enhance training documentation to support the delivery of the School’s Programs,
• Actively participate in the development and implementation of the sales and marketing strategy to ensure sustainable enrolment of students at the University,

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Holder of a Master’s Degree in Law
• Proven teaching/research experience for at least three years
• A confident individual with a proven ability to develop and manage public and private sector linkages and partnerships.
• Expert knowledge in their field, as well as relevant experience and the ability to teach, using a variety of student-based learning approaches, on a range of academic and professional programs.
• Ability to plan and organize public lectures, workshops, and conferences.
• A team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
• An action-oriented person with excellent writing and editorial skills, as well as a proven track record of effective administration and research experience.

• The purpose of this position is to carry out research, teaching, student mentoring and other duties in liaison with the university’s overall goal.

Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Department- Education, Arts and Social Sciences, the position holder will be responsible for the following, amongst others:
• To teach at degree, diploma and certificate level, in areas allocated by the Head of Department and reviewed from time to time by the Head of Department.
• Carry out research and produce study manuals, or other research outputs, in line with personal objectives agreed in the Staff appraisals.
• Supervise or assist with supervision of any research studies, attachment and teaching practice undertaken by the students.
• Participate in the development, administration and marking of exams and other assessments
• To handle students’ grievances that relate to their learning needs.
• To provide mentorship and career guidance to students.
• Bringing in new students by marketing the university programmes both internally and externally
• Retaining current students by ensuring standard customer service is offered always
• Accompanying students on field trips and educational visits and preparing risk assessments
• Any other duty assigned by the Head of Department

Qualifications Requirements
• A Master’s of Arts degree in (English and Linguistics) qualification from a recognized/accredited university.
• A Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Education (Arts) qualification from a recognized/accredited university or in a related field.
• Registered for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent Doctoral degree qualification
• At least (2) years’ post qualification teaching experience
• Membership of a relevant professional organization.
