Duties and Responsibilities
School Management
• Taking full responsibility of children as a class master/mistress
• Taking responsibility of a duty master/mistress in turns.
• Marking a class register and take appropriate action on absentees.
• Attend staff meetings and contribute effectively to improve on issues tackled.

Teaching
• Teaching at least 22 or more lessons in a week
• Preparing schemes of work and lesson plans
• Preparing teaching aids
• Marking and correcting children's work.
• Assessing learners in a subject at least in a fortnight.
• Provide remedial teaching.
• Preparing teaching aids.
• Prepare mark list and enter end term examination marks in each child's report card
• Being accountable to national examination results of candidates in the subjects she/he teaches.

Curriculum Development
• Be involved in discussions to study in details curriculum subjects under subject panels
• to understand the content, assessment methods and teaching methods
• Attend workshops and trainings on professional advancement
• Set, moderate and supervise examinations.
• Oversee administration of both internal and external examination including national examinations

Co-Curriculum Activities
• Being a master/mistress of at least one school sports area, games or club
• Train/coach or teach the group of children involved in the activity in the afternoons

Responsibilities
Be a member of a committee in the school e.g., counseling, and guiding committee

Minimum Education and Professional Experience
• MUST have a minimum of Diploma graduate in teaching.
• Must be a TSC registered teacher
• High level of motivation, integrity, commitment, and professional responsibility.
• Ability to tolerate cultural, educational, and religious diversity in the workplace.
• Ability to work for long hours with minimal supervision.
• Good team player with excellent interpersonal communication skill.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with guidelines and clear expectations.
• Having SNE qualification is an added advantage
• Experience in refugee primary education programming is an advantage.

Job Purpose:
Enabling the success of students and helping in academic achievement to reach their potential through the implementation of the SABIS® curriculum and philosophy and through the consistent use of the SABIS® teaching methodology

Key Responsibilities:
• Teaching using the provided lesson plans (may also be asked to develop such plans based on provided pacing charts as relevant and needed) for their subject(s) in order to be able to teach using the SABIS® point system.
• Marking of exams related to their subject matter in accordance with the schedule and material provided by the department.
• Discussing disciplinary and student performance issues with the Academic Quality Controller (AQC) and head of department (HOD) as needed.
• Implementing the SABIS® point system to ensure an environment conducive to learning in the classroom.
• Providing support by invigilating exams as needed in an adequate and properly managed exam environment.
• Providing support for the academically low performing students, to help improve and get motivated to reach their potential.
• Develop and/or follow external exams preparation by going through past papers as planned in the structured revision schedule ( When applicable to specific grade).
• Aiding in duties that may include testing children, substituting for absent teachers , organizing children for lunches and buses, controlling traffic (vehicles and people), and other administrative duties that may be assigned to him/her by the school SABIS® management.
• Preparing and participating in activity plans for all such student life related events such as but not limited to art, open house and physical education in coordination with the student life coordinator.
• Attending training sessions when needed and as per the request of school management in order to enhance their understanding of the SABIS® system improving their performance
• Performing such other related tasks or projects as they arise and as delegated by the school SABIS® management.

Ideal Requirements:
• Bachelor degree in a related subject matter and/or equivalent
• English Proficient / Native English Speaker (depending on subject)
• PGCE certification is a must
• MS Office needed components
• Communication Skills
• Ability to work within a team

About the Client:
Our client is a private school located off Thika Road, Nairobi seeking a vibrant and informed Primary School Teacher. The school has kindergarten to grade 4 hence serving the lower primary section. It is located in a busy residential area off Thika Road that serves the locality and environs.

Objective:
The Primary School Teacher is primarily responsible for organizational point-of-contact with the students and their families, instruction and training, maintaining professionalism, and serving as a role model at all times to enable acquisition of all round quality education.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
• To maintain full and accurate records of students’ achievements as it relates to the subject.
• To deliver engaging, coherent and motivating lessons to students.
• To develop effective lesson plans, schemes of work, teaching methods, etc and assessment strategies in line with assessment guidelines and curriculum specifications, weekly planning and evaluation outlines.
• To attend Parents Meetings and discuss the academic progress of his/her pupils.
• To perform duties, as requested by the Head of school, for supervising the pupils outside the classroom e.g. lunch/break and other duties, assemblies etc.
• To contribute to extra-curricular activities, Organize, attend and supervise school activities such as excursions, school concerts, camps and sporting events.
• To attend weekly Staff Meetings, professional development sessions as well as whole school meetings, and any other meetings that may be held.
• To ensure student compliance with academic deadlines, and provide ongoing assessment of student satisfaction, success, retention and progression.

Key Qualifications:
• Diploma in Education or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• At least 2 years teaching experience.
• TSC certificate.
• A Certificate in Computer proficiency.
• P1 certificate from a recognized institution.
• CBC Curriculum trained.
• Should be able to teach all subjects in Lower Primary Section.
