(Senior/Principal) Clinical Team Manager - Infectious and Respiratory Diseases

The role coordinates all aspects of clinical activities on an international basis, including:
• Day to day management and leadership of a team of Clinical Operations members who are allocated to a project on a Country basis
• Responsibility for the achievement of the clinical deliverables within the contractual timelines and budget
• Development of clinical tools (e.g. Monitoring Plan and Guidelines) and set up of the required training, tracking and quality systems
• Work in partnership with the Project Manager to prepare, organize, and present at client meetings, including bid defense and kick off meetings
• Clinical Resource Management – provide input into preparation of forecast estimates of clinical deliverables, assignments and identification of additional resource requirements
• Acting as a contact and support to the Sponsor for all clinical-related aspects of the project

• Bachelor's degree or licensed certified health care training or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Previous cross-country CTM/ Project Management experience in excess of 2 year, including specific knowledge for Infectious and Respiratory Diseases: Asthma, COPD, Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, PAH, Cystic Fibrosis, HIV, COVID-19
• Gene therapy experience would be considered as an advantage
• Clinical research experience in all phases of study life cycle, including start up, interim and close out
• Study finance management experience
• Ability and willingness to cross-region and in region travel according to the project needs
• Valid Passport and Driving Licence
• Be competent in use of written and oral English language

Main duties
• Provide high-level technical expertise and credibility for the delivery of PAC services for adolescents in the focal county.
• Stay up to date with evidence and trends in the global sexual and reproductive health field, with emphasis in the latest clinical evidence regarding comprehensive abortion care, and use this knowledge and expertise to support delivery of the project.
• Together with team members oversee the development and quality assurance of - technical guidelines, protocols, informational materials and all other relevant resources required to support increased access to quality SRH services by adolescent girls.
• Serve as a technical lead in clinical quality assurance of sexual and reproductive health services, and provide guidance and support to the service providers.
• Assist the Coordinator in facilitating training across the program, reviewing curricula, tools, conducting field visits, addressing identified gaps and promoting systematic use of data to improve the quality of project’s approaches and interventions.
• Work with the lead mobilizer to strengthen capacity of local CHVs/YPPs and Community Based Organizations and private vendors to provide services for girls.
• Work closely with the project Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) officer to systematically conduct data analysis at the program levels, producing data dashboards and learning briefs that can be used to inform interactive program design and implementation and to routinely share results with consortium partners and funders.
• Promote technical learning across the project, by hosting and facilitating innovative exchange sessions between participating providers.
• Ensure that the program, while driving innovation, promotes an approach that minimizes the risk of potential harm to girls and other stakeholders.
• To deliver evidence-informed interventions that achieve expected results while adopting a robust safeguarding approach across the program cycle.
• Collaborate with the program’s M&E team to ensure that system produces quality and timely data required to inform and improve delivery of results.
• Support the Project Coordinator to identify, monitor and manage any risks to the attainment of program results, particularly those related to quality service provision and safeguarding.
• Support fundraising and resource mobilization initiatives including generation of innovative ideas, provision of appropriate data and information needed to develop concepts and proposals.
• Represent the project in an appropriate stakeholder engagements and meetings at County level.

Desirable Qualifications
• Minimum Qualification in Nursing/Clinical/Pharmacy/Public Health is preferred. Must be dully registered with requisite bodies.
• Technical expertise of 5 years in the field of quality of care, community health strategy in sexual and reproductive health and rights projects will be an added advantage.
• Experience of engagement with both public & private health sector and coordination.
• Ability to work and hold planning sessions with technical working groups and stakeholders at the County level.
• Strong experience in facilitating trainings and development of materials including VCAT, mentorship, support supervision tools and providing institutional support and technical assistance on issues related to ASRH service provision.
• Experience in RH/maternal newborn and child health programming including facility and community based health service improvement is essential.
• Understanding of National policies on RH/MNCH issues and how to contribute to their development with political analysis skills, sensitivity, and diplomacy.
• Should possess excellent report writing and presentation skills.

Duties and Responsibilities
This entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a more experienced officer. Duties and responsibilities will entail:- carrying out simple treatment of animals; participating in disease search and reporting; demonstrating on milking techniques and external parasite control techniques such as dipping, spraying and dusting; carrying out vaccination; and undertaking closed castration, dehorning, de-worming, disbudding, docking, debeaking and hoof trimming.

Requirement for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-
• certificate lasting not less than two (2) years in any of the following disciplines: -Animal Health Environmental Health, Animal Health and Production from a recognized institution:
• Be registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board; and
• Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution

Job Purpose:
To provide curative and preventive health care to the beneficiaries in the WVK Kajiado, Kitui, Makueni, Kilifi and Kwale emergency nutrition project as part of enhancing effective implementation of the Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) component.

Project planning and implementation
• Support in day to day running of integrated mobile health outreaches and management of the nutrition and health activities.
• Coordinate the health education activities of the project.
• Support in coordination of all field logistical operations for the program.
• Participate in staff regular training as part of continuous professional development
• Liaise with the Public Health Officer in the County department of health to design and conduct the health education sessions at the outreach sites.
• Ensure proper treatment of minor illnesses’ and management of beneficiaries through; administration of systematic medication, supervision and referrals as appropriate including medical supplies stock prepositioning in liaison with health facility in charges and Sub county managers.
• Ensure ANC and postnatal activities are integrated in the outreach programme.
• Monitoring nutritional status of beneficiaries as per set indicators and protocols.
• Implement CMAM targeting malnourished children, pregnant and lactating mothers.
• Ensure that medical services are administered according to the national standards and protocols.
• Work closely with MOH and other health provider nurses and follow referral mechanism of both moderately and severely malnourished children.
• Work closely with the Nutrition Officer to manage and train nutrition staff and the community on identification and monitoring of malnutrition.
• Work closely with the Sub County Health management team to ensure that all medical components of the project are well implemented.
• Implement a recognised system of monitoring of beneficiaries to ensure supplies are well recorded observing data protection protocols and privacy making sure data is captured in government system.

Documentation, Monitoring and reporting
• Make follow up of children referred to and from Stabilization Centre.
• Filling of MOH tools and child mother booklets
• Conduct health education to promote appropriate infant care practices
• Monitoring of beneficiaries in OTP and SFP to ensure appropriate weight gain.
• Ensure project reporting protocols are implemented according to both World Vision, UNICEF, WFP guidelines and reports submitted to the Project Manager in time.
• Ensure that all reports from the outreach sites are reported in the DHIS
• Liaise with project officers for guidance on field logistics and staff issues
• Preparation of progress reports, stocks and program reports according to UNICEF, WFP and WV requirements.
• Support in other project activities as guided by the project manager

Coordination and partnerships
• Support in logistics of all integrated outreaches at field level.
• Support the MoH staff in coordinating outreach teams.
• Represent World Vision in key stakeholder forums/meetings and relevant networks at the Ward and Sub-County level.
• Strengthen partnerships with the county government and other partners for effective support and capacity for sustainability

Qualification & Experience
• At least 2 years working experience in Health and Nutrition services at health facility and community level with bias to Child health (IMCI), Maternal health, management of malnutrition in emergency contexts.
• Experience with Humanitarian NGO’s is a considerable advantage.
• The job holder must have a minimum of a Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution.
• A Degree in Nursing will be highly desirable
• Knowledge of Community Development
• Enrolled nurse registered by NCK with proven knowledge in emergency response
• Excellent English and Swahili communication skills (both oral and written)
• Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (or another main email system such as Microsoft Outlook)
• A team player, capable of working under pressure while observing set starndards
• Ability to take initiative, a team leader able to work with minimum supervision
• Cross-cultural experience, sensitivity and emotional maturity
