Duties And Responsibilities
• Assist with the recruitment process by obtaining requisitions for vacant positions within the program for National and Incentive staff, place adverts, develop shortlists in collaboration with hiring manager and Senior Human Resource Officer as well as conduct interviews.
• Prepare onboarding process for newly employed staff.
• Monitor the probationary period for the new staff and ensure that supervisors take them through the probationary review process.
• Monitor, track and record all staff movements and changes monthly and submit the report to Finance department for payroll input.
• In collaboration with the Senior HR & Liaison Officer, ensure all staff are incorporated in the various staff benefits - Medical scheme, Group life cover, medical evacuation scheme and facilitate member benefit education from time to time.
• Coordinate performance management process at the program level to ensure all staff have been appraised and actions taken based on the recommendations given.
• Monitor end of contracts for all staff and provide updates to facilitate necessary action and procedures such as notifications on end of contract, renewal, separation or other as necessary.
• Facilitate staff disciplinary matters and ensure LWF procedures and legal statutes are adhered to in the process.
• In collaboration with various departments and in consultation with the Area Manager, facilitate planning, developing and implementation of relevant staff development and training programs for capacity building. build staff capacity.
• Monitor and develop systems that ensure the work environment is safe for the employees and that safety guidelines are adhered to including but not limited to having a Health and Safety Committee is in place and that staff are duly trained as necessary as fire marshals etc.
• Attending to daily staff queries and making sure staff are assisted to sort personal issues through coaching and mentorship so that they can attain their full potential.
• Engage casual compound cleaners and prepare all engagement and payment details as per casual engagement policy.
• Ensure that offices and staff quarters are maintained in a habitable state and that all repairs are carried out as necessary.
• Facilitate flight bookings for staff as the proceed on leave and R&R as well as visitors.
• Facilitate booking of accommodation as appropriate to visitors on mission.
• Ensure the generators in all compounds are working and address any challenges that may be arising with close liaison with the Plant Mechanic.

Qualifications And Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field
• Demonstrable work experience in human resource management with at least 5 years work experience in humanitarian and development organization.
• Member of the Institute of Human Resource Management
• Higher Diploma in HR or (CHRP-K) Part 2 qualifications
• NGO experience is an added advertage

A Successful Human Resources Manager Kenya will:
• Maintain a strong Christian witness and model servant leadership to colleagues, partners, the communities we serve, and the public.
• Understand, support, and nurture Water Mission’s vision, mission, and core values.
• Collaborate with headquarters and local senior leadership to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, development, retention, and employee relations.
• Administer human resources programs within Kenya, including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; recruitment and selection; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
• Work with in-country leadership, the Regional Human Resources Director Africa, and Water Mission headquarters to develop the Kenya Human Resources Strategic Plan and the Kenya Staffing Plan.
• Manage all aspects of the employee life cycle, including but not limited to the developing of job descriptions, advertising, shortlisting, participating in interviewing and selection, conducting background searches, facilitating onboarding, induction, retention, and off-boarding.
• Prepare and manage employment contracts and employment offer letters and ensure compliance with local labor laws and Water Mission policies.
• Develop and maintain a talent pool of both internal and external candidates.
• Update the human resources manual regularly and ensure it’s aligned with Water Mission policies and Kenya’s regulatory provisions and changes.
• Collaborate with Water Mission headquarters to execute the training and development initiatives of the organization.
• Conduct staff training sessions on human resources policies and/or other areas of training as directed.
• Implement and oversee the Performance Management System.
• Complete benchmark studies with comparator organizations on remuneration, human resources policies and practices, and/or any other employee-related matters.
• Administer employee benefits programs (e.g., medical insurance, life insurance, etc.) and train staff accordingly.
• Manage all aspects of compliance within human resources and implement necessary controls.
• Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and Employment Law; apply this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to local senior leadership and headquarters-based human resources department.
• Prepare reports for management and attend leadership meetings.
• Manage and participate in all human resources audits and respond/close audit queries in a timely manner.
• May manage auxiliary staff.
• Handle all employee discipline and grievance-related matters.
• Manage all employee relations, conduct investigations, and coordinate with Headquarters as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.
