ECO SPREW Poultry is an indigenous company located in Machakos. Specialized in poultry production, growth and sale of fresh produce targeted for the domestic and export markets.
We seek to hire an an experienced Poultry Farm Superintendent who will be in charge of the production processes as well as general management.

Responsibilities for the Farm Manager Job
• Ensure that farm activities comply with government regulations
• Monitor animal health and welfare, including liaising with vets
• Maintaining a knowledge of pests and diseases and an understanding of how they spread and how to treat them
• Ensure animal products are ready for deadlines, such as markets
• Ensure health and safety standards across the farm estate are followed
• Arranging the maintenance and repair of farm buildings, machinery and equipment
• Ensuring productive and engaged production team by employing suitable and acceptable human resources practices
• To ensure attainment of plans that support strategic direction by developing, implementing and evaluation of the business plans, operating budgets and strategic plans from time to time
• To safeguard both company’s physical and intangible assets by instituting proper internal control systems and procedures
• To ensure the Directors are informed on the animals performance through provision of quality periodic reports
• To ensure proper management of the company’s projects through carrying out their monitoring and evaluation
• Budgeting and maintaining accurate financial records
• Carry out any other roles assigned by the Management from time to time

Farm Manager Job Qualifications

• Certificate/Diploma in Agriculture/Animal production
• At least 5 years’ experience in a busy poultry production establishment
• Analytical with attention to detail
• Good organizational, communication, inter-personal, cross-culture and team skills
• Well-developed problem solving and decision making skills.

Role Positioning And Objectives
• To supervise extension services to achieve agreed company quantity, quality, and cost objectives.

What You Will Be Accountable For
• Timely prepare, obtain approval from the (Area Leaf Manager) ALM, implement, and continuously monitor a crop action plans to produce the agreed quality, quantity, and cost of tobacco leaf
• Provide professional technical guidance and assistance to the extension contractor and farmers
• Continuously evaluate competitor activity and put in place proactive mitigating measures to maintain competitive advantage.
• Implement, supervise and ensure compliance by all direct and indirect reports on all company guidelines and policies
• Effectively supervise loan issued to farmers to ensure crop quality and quantity objectives are met while minimising risk of loan defaulting.
• Train, develop and motivate all staff to ensure optimal individual output
• Identify community development projects in the area in liaison with the local leadership, communicate the same and supervise the implementation of those approved.
In addition, the job holder is required to liaise on daily basis with various local and external customers in public such as National Government and County governments

Essential Experience, Skills And Knowledge
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline i.e.: Agronomy/Extension
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in the field
• Valid motorbike license is mandatory
• Ability to develop a credible and professional relationship with middle line management.
• Leadership skills and teamwork spirit
• Experience with Excel (at least basic level)
• Excellent communication ability
• Demonstrate a strong level of understanding of modern training and development principles, philosophies and methodologies

• Develop and Implement fisheries policy, strategic plans, fisheries management measures and regulations.
• Link with other directorate in planning and budgeting for the ministry.
• Administer fisheries human resources and preparation of appraisal forms.
• Formulate, update and enforce fisheries legislation.
• Liaise with research institutions and other agencies towards fisheries development in the County.
• Organize extension approaches and methodologies
• Oversee implementation fisheries management measures
• Formulate, implement and monitor resource conservation intervention strategies
• Monitor fish seed and feed production programmes
• Design fish marketing strategies
• Promote fish and fishery product value addition
• Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

• Bachelor’s Degree in fisheries, Zoology, Aquatic science, Natural resource management, Biochemistry, Food science and technology, Environmental science, biological science, Physical science, Chemistry or any other equivalent qualifications from a recognized university.
• Master’s degree in any of the following field; biology sciences, natural resource management, Biochemistry, Food science and technology, Environmental science, biological science, Physical science, Chemistry or any other equivalent qualifications from a recognized university
• Certificate in strategic leadership development programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from recognized institution
• Certificate in computer application from recognized institution
• Shown competence in planning and implementation of development management and research of fisheries projects and programs
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
