Responsibilities:
Learners’ health and Pastoral care
• Being aware of their individual problems and liaising with parents to discuss any specific needs of their child and ensuring that appropriate provision is made for children with medical conditions or specific needs. This includes supervising and ensuring leave-out forms are filled and signed appropriately.
• Reinforcement and supervision to ensure boarding rules and regulations are followed
• Looking after students with minor illnesses and giving out non-prescription medicines
• Keeping students’ records up to date.
• Liaising with colleagues to provide pastoral support to pupils as required.
• Ensuring that senior colleagues and parents are informed about welfare or pastoral concerns about children identified

Personal care
• Preparation of supplies and orientation of new boarders.
• Helping students settle into the boarding school by providing a sympathetic ear and support
• Working with members of staff to help students enjoy school life and to achieve their potential
• Taking responsibility with other house staff for supervising students, making sure they are neat, clean and well-behaved after school hours.
• Supervising waking up, meals, bedtime and prep attendance
• Maintain discipline in the dormitories.
• Taking inventory of school boarding supplies at the end and beginning of every term.

Domestic
• Working closely with the Boarding Mistress who has overall responsibility for the care of boarding students out of school hours, as well as other members of staff in the Boarding facility
• Ensuring students have the required boarding supplies and liaising with parents/guardians
• Supervising neatness/cleanliness of the dormitories and supervising the cleaning staff
• Liaising with the storekeeper for cleaning and boarding supplies
• Carrying out an inventory of fixtures and fittings in the boarding section and reporting the need for repairs and replacements.

Requirements
• KCSE mean grade D (Plus) and above
• Be mature in age, preferably minimum 40 years
• Willing to live on school premises with no dependants.
• Have experience in an educational institution and/or housekeeping
• Willing to carry out matron duties (that is, working from early morning), supervision and other school duties assigned.
• Certificate of good conduct and reference letter from the last employer.
• Basic Book-keeping and store management skills.
• Must have passion and commitment to work with children/students
• Experience in guidance and counselling is an added advantage
• Ability to communicate confidently and deal with challenging situations
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and take decisive action
• Be a good role model, with emphasis on developing life skills and character development in boarders
• Be tactful and a good listener and firm but fair.
• Have a sound knowledge of first aid
• Be flexible and have good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and manage tasks
• An eye for detail and accuracy
• Friendly, warm personality with excellent interpersonal skills
• Clear communication skills, both oral and written
• Self-motivated with a positive, professional attitude
• Ability to work as part of a team yet also to work under own initiative
• Have patience and be a motherly figure to the children while in school (make sure that they are following the school rules and doing the tasks that they are to accomplish on a daily basis).

Qualifications
• Holder of a Bachelor's degree in hospitality, hotel management, BA or a related field with minimum of ten years' experience in high end hotel or serviced apartments industry
• Must have good communication and interpersonal skills
