JOB DETAILS:

The Head of Merchant Acquiring is responsible for Strategy development and growing the merchant acquiring Business of the Bank. This includes both the POS merchant as well as Mobile (Pay with Equity) Acquiring businesses. She/He is also responsible for developing and implementing policies and programs within the department that support the organizations overall strategic direction.

Job Responsibilities/ Accountabilities:
• Responsible for developing the Acquiring Business Strategy for the Bank.
• Responsible for Merchant Acquiring P&L Management
• Share best practices from across the Payments industry by ensure you are a captain of knowledge
• Collect feedback from customers & merchants and all other stakeholders to improve and grow acceptance.
• Keep up with the latest trends to ensure the merchant acquiring business is at the forefront of user experience, security, and technical capability
• Attract new merchants for the Bank in line with the Bank’s Strategy and plans.
• Expand the merchant acquiring business and other related services
• Establish and support key merchant relationships and provide best services to merchant customers.
• Strengthen merchant relationships in order to grow the wallet share.
• Contribute in growing Acquiring market share.
• Analyze, MIS reports and monitor performance.
• Conduct Market research to identify competitive information on new developments in the market.
• Suggest any developments and enhancements related to the overall Acquiring business.
• Handle both POS and Pay with Equity Acquiring Channels.
• Good Marketing acumen and proven track record of business growth

Qualifications
• 7 years of professional experience with at least 3 years in payment acquiring
• Good relationship management skills
• Basic technical skills and Operations functionalities
• Knowledge of using bank Payments systems
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to sustain effective relations internally and externally at all levels of a large organization
• Leadership skills and excellent team player
• Fluency in English with strong business writing skills
• Working knowledge of Merchant Acquiring, Card business and Mobile Payments
• Basic knowledge of Fraud Management and Risk Assessment of Merchants
• University Degree pref. in Banking / Business Management / Marketing.
• Ability to represent the bank in a professional manner.
• Ability to propose, negotiate and close deals.
• Ability to manage a team and coordinate with colleagues to achieve team success.
• Keeps abreast of all the recent developments in the Payments space across the world.
• Highly developed marketing & organizational skills with a customer-friendly attitude.

Key Responsibilities
• Review the credibility and integrity of financial statements.
• Analyze the investments of the Society to ensure that the investments policy was followed, the investments are safe, made within the prudential standards and are made for the good of the Society.
• Review the economic efficiency and effectiveness in the utilization of the Society resources so that its objectives are achieved.
• Review the adequacy, design and effectives of the internal control systems. This includes monitoring of such controls, detect any weakness and provide recommendation for improvement.
• Undertake regular transactions and systems review to confirm that internal control systems are in place and are working.
• Act as a link between the external auditor and the supervisory committee of the SACCO
• Submit, at least annually, to senior management and the [board/supervisory committee] a risk-based internal audit plan for review and approval.

Miniumum Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Commerce or any other business related degree form a recognized university.
• Certified Public Accountant (K) or its equivalent.

JOB DETAILS:

The Chairperson of the Audit Committee of the Commission is responsible for providing leadership to the Committee in fulfilling its duties and responsibilities. The Chairperson reports to the Commission.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide leadership to the audit Committee of the Commission.
• Provide oversight on Governance, Risk management and Control processes at the Commission and make appropriate recommendations.
• Report to the Commission on activities and decisions made by the Audit Committee.
• Examine Internal and external Audit reports and recommendations after management response to ensure action is taken.
• Periodically arrange for review of the effectiveness and performance appraisal of the Audit Committee and the Internal Audit function.
• Setting the agenda for each meeting with the committee members.
• Drive the assessment of the performance of the Head of the Commission’s Internal Audit.
• Perform an independent review of the financial statements to ensure the integrity and transparency of the financial reporting process.
• Monitor the effectiveness of the Commission’s performance information and compliance with the performance management framework and performance reporting requirements.
• Ensure the Commission effectively monitors compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements and promotes a culture committed to lawful and ethical behaviour

Requirements for appointment
For appointment, a candidate must:
• Be a Kenyan Citizen.
• Possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Economics or related field from a University recognized in Kenya. A master’s degree and/or a post graduate professional qualification in the relevant area and a certificate in Corporate Governance will be an added advantage.
• Be Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (CPA-K), or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
• Be a member of ICPAK or Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) in good standing.
• Have at least 12 years’ experience at a senior level in the private or public sector.
• Have Board experience from at least one institution.
• Excellent working knowledge of an audit committee ‘s functions and risk management frameworks;
• Must not be a present or past employee or an agent of the Commission in the past two years.
• Demonstrate independence in the performance of the duties.
• Have a good understanding of government operations, financial reporting and auditing.
• Have thorough knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act and regulations thereto.
• Not a holder of a political office.
• Must be compliant with the requirements of Chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.
