Your Role
As KOKO grows within and outside Kenya, our team is looking for Test Engineers with a strong understanding of complex distributed systems and a demonstrated ability to effectively test and troubleshoot them.
In this position you will work collaboratively with engineering team members to build productive working relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet KOKO’s quality commitments to its customers. KOKO’s suite of products spans multiple technical domains and disciplines in software and hardware, and so experience in end-to-end systems thinking across distributed components is key for this role.

What you will do
KOKO’s technology stack currently includes (but is not limited to):
• Core Technology: AWS, Python, Flask, Vue.js, Postgres, Kotlin, Java, Firebase, C++, Celery, Message Queues, Odoo ERP, Docker, Jenkins, CircleCI, Git
• Test Engineering: Maven, Selenium, TestNG, Cucumber, Postman,Newman, JMeter
• Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback.
• Develop deep product and domain knowledge of KOKO’s systems.
• Liaise with internal teams (e.g. developers and product managers) to identify system requirements and create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases.
• Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities.
• Design, develop and execute automation scripts using automation tools.
• Identify, record, document thoroughly and track bugs through to closure.
• Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved.
• Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products to improve on their quality and functionality.
• Monitor debugging process results.
• Work with the development team to provide inputs to fix issues and possible solutions to problems.
• Participate with the entire team in setting the quality standards for the product.
• Contribute to reviewing and defining quality processes.
• Provide training, guidance, feedback, and coaching to testing team members.

What You Will Bring to KOKO
• 2-4 years of relevant experience in manual and automation testing.
• Experience in creating test plans and test scenarios.
• Experience in BDD tools like Cucumber with web testing frameworks like Selenium.
• Experience in mobile app testing tools like Firebase Test Lab or Appium is preferred.
• Hands on programming skills in any one of Java, Python or JavaScript.
• Experience in testing REST APIs.
• Knowledge of database architectures and data models used in the relevant product.
• Experience working with Performance and load testing tools such as JMeter, Gatling or equivalent is a plus.
• Demonstrate problem solving and innovation ability.
• Proficiency in multi-tasking.
• Strong teamwork focus and the ability to foster collaboration within and across teams.

Key Role Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities)
• Schedule and undertake periodic maintenance on all mechanical equipment, components, and installations
• Provide prompt response to inquiries whenever there is a breakdown, and resolve the issue as quickly as possible
• Ensure that equipments are in good working order so as to prevent disruption of activities
• Installation of fresh mechanical components and fittings
• Recommend replacement for old or faulty mechanical components or fittings to the management
• Assist in forecasting requirements, creating a budget and scheduling expenses for the mechanical department
• Keep record of all stock and supplies, including company’s mechanical equipment
• Working in collaboration with the production team to formulate the best cost-effective manufacturing process
• Perform energy audit and recommend alternative sources of energy
• Help the organization to reduce energy costs

Person Specification (Qualifications, Experience and Skills)
• A minimum of bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field from a recognized institution.
• At least three (5) to eight (8) years’ experience in a manufacturing company as an industrial Electrician/Electronics Engineer
• Experience in Plastic manufacturing industry an added advantage
• Knowledge of injection and blow machines
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must have a good verbal & written communication skills.

• Manage all cost requests and establish all manufacturing costs and equipments.
• Maintain knowledge on all safety requirements for various processes.
• Administer all projects and recommend improvement to facilitate all first time quality.
• Evaluate all alternatives to plastic resins to maintain all projects within required budget and initiate cost reduction method for same.
• Analyze and ensure compliance to all customer requirements and supervise all material and coat engineering activities and manage communication with vendors and suppliers.
• Provide support to all material equipments and assist to increase productivity of all plastic associate processes.
• Performing any other relevant task assigned from time to time.

Person Specification (Qualifications, Experience and Skills)
• Degree in Engineering technology or Plastic engineering
• 5 to 8 years’ experience in high output plastics manufacturing environment with in-depth knowledge of injection and blow setting, hydraulics and electrical equipment
• Experience in setting injection molding /blowing molding machines
• Knowledge of injection and blow machines
• Ability to troubleshoot, repair or replace all components of Injection Molding machines, Blow Molding Machinery and equipm
• At least 5 years in a managerial position will be an added advantage.
