Duties and Responsibilities
• Understand the brand guidelines, visual identity, and communication guidelines for each brand.
• Identify new opportunities that can be used to leverage marketing efforts.
• Effectively represent the company and its values to all internal and external holders
• Manage Nairobi Street Kitchen’s social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) which includes responding to and moderating comments, direct messages, and all other activities in respect of Nairobi Street Kitchen’s Social Media Platforms;
• Engage in content marketing and distribution of content across social media platforms, including community management to ensure consistent engagement and response with Nairobi Street Kitchen’s audience across all its owned social media platforms.
• Create monthly content plans for Nairobi Street Kitchen’s Social Media Platforms
• Align a monthly campaign strategy with the support of the Senior Brand Executive.
• Monitor campaign response/measure success of each campaign and make recommendations to immediate supervisor and put into place agreed follow-up actions.
• In-person meetings once a week with the Senior Brand Executive and General Manager, Operations – Hospitality to provide check-ins on the current strategy, plan for growth, and brainstorm new ideas.
• Craft outreach strategies, creating multiple press angles for different press demographics in relation to digital PR;
• Identify publishers through social media/link analysis, use of journalist databases, real engagement with online communities, and attending industry events as the NSK representative;
• Create and provide monthly reports in respect of the digital strategy and social media platforms.
• Assist in creating monthly content such as pictures and videos for the purposes of marketing Nairobi Street Kitchen
• Carry out online media buying, campaign optimization & Ads management for Nairobi Street Kitchen’s Social Media Platforms (Facebook & Instagram ads) such as creating ads, carrying out ad placements and publicizing and promoting Nairobi Street Kitchen on its Social Media Platforms, and driving traffic to the pages
• Regularly send out e-newsletters twice (2) a month to the Nairobi Street Kitchen’s database using Mailchimp
• Write informative & intriguing articles for Nairobi Street Kitchen’s blog, Humans of NSK platform, and for PR purposes.
• Offer marketing support to all brands hospitality brands i.e Uva Wines, Acacia Premier, Fika, and Nairobi Street Kitchen.
• Any other related duties may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Academic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or other relevant field required

Professional Memberships

• Professional certification from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and/or The Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing (IDM)

Experience

• Minimum 3 years experience in Marketing preferably in Hospitality.

Job Description:
ACAPS, a project hosted by Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is looking for a creative Communications Assistant. The position is for Kenyan nationals or candidates with the right to live and work in Kenya.

Purpose of the position
The post holder will contribute to enhance ACAPS analysis by supporting the layout design of products to ensure effective communication to its target audience. This will ultimately contribute to that ACAPS is perceived as a leading voice on humanitarian needs analysis. The selected candidate will also support with other communications related activities.

Responsibilities
Generic responsibilities:
1. Ensure that ACAPS’ products and services are visually appealing and on-brand.
2. Boost the implementation of the Communications strategy aimed at strengthening the positioning of the organisation worldwide.

Specific responsibilities:
Support to postproduction
• In close collaboration with the Analysis team, the selected candidate will support with implementing final formatting and layout of ACAPS’ products including a final check of quality assurance.
• Be responsible for the publication of ACAPS’ products and support with dissemination.
Other communications related tasks
• Help keep the ACAPS website up to date.
Critical interfaces:
• Closely coordinates and collaborates with the Analysis team.

Qualifications:
• Relevant university degree or higher education, preferably in communications, marketing, graphic design, or related field.
Generic professional competencies:
• At least 1 year experience in a position with related responsibilities.
• Excellent IT skills, especially with design and photo-editing softwares (such as InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop).
• Experience from the humanitarian sector desirable and understanding of the humanitarian sector and emergency response context is a plus.
• A keen eye for aesthetics and details.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to organize multiple, simultaneous tasks, and deliver results within a specified period.

Scope of Work:
• Get familiarized with IRC’s and Airbel’s branding and existing icons / graphics library
• Get familiarized with Airbel’s research products and methods, approach and priorities, including meeting with IRC research staff to better understand needs
• Propose a set of graphics / icons and get feedback from IRC research staff
• Draft and graphically design communications documents to communication: how we conduct research and generate evidence at the IRC; what are our standards and best practices, including dissemination of the Airbel’s humanitarian research toolkit (including a video introduction); and how we can improve programs through uptake of research evidence.

Deliverables
• Create a library of graphics to better communicate research findings to communities and partners
• Creating briefs / brochures to share Airbel’s research approach and methods
• Create a short video to introduce users to the Airbel humanitarian research toolkit

Requirements
Qualifications
• Demonstrated experience in developing communication products for various audiences (applicants will be asked to share a sample of their past work - icon graphics, printed layout work, and / or video)
• Understanding of research approaches and methods, and experience in communicating research and evaluation findings.
• Video editing experience.
• Preferred: experience in working with diverse audiences, including in low-literacy settings.

Essential Functions:
• Leads advocacy and communications efforts in the region with humanitarian partners and other relevant stakeholders in relation to refugee and humanitarian priorities, and frequently participates in humanitarian communications working groups.
• Provides oversight on implementation of advocacy initiatives in country offices and monitors the fulfillment of the objectives in line with the broader strategic vision for the organization.
• Supports in the development of strategic plans for the country offices; ensures cohesion of strategic plans and approaches across the team.
• Builds partnerships and coordinates work with other networks and allies in the humanitarian and human rights field in Africa and beyond, to maximize the chance of securing advocacy wins.
• Represents HIAS in advocacy-related working groups and networks in Africa, and feeds into advocacy conducted by HIAS headquarters on Africa-related refugee response.
• Coordinates closely with counterparts in HIAS’ headquarters covering international communications and advocacy in the implementation of strategies implemented in HIAS’ operations in Africa.
• Coordinates the compilation of stories, pictures and videos covering HIAS’ humanitarian and emergency response activities for communication and advocacy purposes.
• Drafts and produces country office annual reports, brochures and promotional materials showcasing advocacy recommendations, programs and other relevant communications for visibility, including relevant social media.
• Drafts communications sections of reports and proposals to existing and prospective donors.
• Supports country offices in development and management of budgets that support communications and advocacy activities.
• Guides relevant country office communications focal points on compliance to various or emerging donor communications requirements.
• Trains and provides oversight on the development of content for HIAS Chad’s and HIAS Kenya’s social media channels.
• Supports in organizing media outreach within the country offices and leads on regional media outlets by arranging for media contacts, press briefings and interviews; provides talking points and other materials as needed for colleagues.
• Performs other duties assigned by the Regional Director, Africa & Eurasia.

Qualifications & Requirements:
• Undergraduate degree in Communications, Public Relations or International Relations.
• 3-5 years of experience in communications and advocacy in Africa.
• English and French fluency are required.
• Working experience in an international humanitarian NGO.
• Strong background in humanitarian and/or refugee-related advocacy in Africa.
• Understanding and commitment to the values of HIAS.
• Experience managing social media for an NGO.
• Basic graphic design skills; video and photo editing experience preferred.
• Enthusiasm to learn new communications and advocacy skills.
• Flexibility to travel up to 20% of the time.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team and independently, take initiative, prioritize competing tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
