The International Rescue Committee is a global humanitarian aid, relief and development nongovernmental organization.

Job Overview

We are looking for highly analytical Data Analyst to join the METAL Unit team, focusing on bringing together data across core business systems to support data-driven insights for CRRD staff. This role will respond principally to inquiries from CRRD leadership asking how we can utilize multiple complex internal datasets and databases to offer management insights into whether we are achieving our strategic goals and where our resources should be allocated. The datasets of focus for the Data Analyst will likely span from budgets and spending data to win rates, grants tracking, and programmatic data. While most of the requests will be resolved by building live dashboards, a small number of requests may be one-off, while we build out our data infrastructure.

The Data Analyst will fill a critical (and in demand!) gap in the department, becoming an organizational expert in multiple large datasets and providing thought partnership to METAL leadership about the best ways to access and visualize internal data. The Analyst will leverage your expertise in data analysis, statistical modeling, and reporting to make data more readily accessible and user-friendly for CRRD leaders and programs staff. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams, including fundraising and finance, to deliver actionable insights that enhance programmatic and operational decision making to maximize client outcomes.

Major Responsibilities

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Create and maintain dashboards, visualizations, and reports to track program and strategy performance, pulling from grants, finance, and program data from across IRC’s core business systems (systems are called Integra, OTIS, Salesforce, and PID)
  • Analyze and interpret large datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that inform global program strategies.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., programs, fundraising, marketing, and finance) to ensure data is well represented to meet stakeholder needs

Process Improvement & Innovation:

  • When relevant, identify opportunities to enhance the data collection and reporting processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with global goals.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and emerging analytics tools, and bring innovative ideas for improving the team’s capabilities.
  • Collaborate with fellow Analytics colleagues to ensure best practices in coding, statistics, and general analysis.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

Experience

  • 3+ years working in the field of data analytics.
  • 2+ years’ experience in international humanitarian aid or development
  • Proven experience with enterprise data sets, including technical skills across the data stack: cloud lakehouse platforms (Databricks preferred), Python and SQL, dbt or equivalent transformation tooling, pipeline orchestration, and BI/visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)
  • Demonstrable experience planning and executing complex analytics projects across multiple stakeholders.

Skills & Competencies

  • More than two years of professional experience with PowerBI
  • Strong data visualization and communication skills: ability to “tell a story” with numbers in a variety of formats: PowerPoints, dashboards, memos, and presentations.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Curiosity and willingness to explore complex and ambiguous problems and deliver actionable insights through both quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
  • Highly collaborative and pro-active colleague with a talent for delivering results with cross-functional groups
  • Strong attention to detail & commitment to a high standard of work product.

Nice-to-Haves / Areas You Will Grow:

  • Experience with Databricks and dbt.
