Major Responsibilities
Global liquidity and existing lender management:
Excellent external lender relationships are maintained;
All key VFI cash flow and funding metrics are monitored regularly and any potential issues escalated promptly;
Lender covenants are monitored monthly and any potential non-compliance is addressed and managed;
Quarterly lender reports and lender communiques are prepared and submitted on a timely basis;
Quarterly ALCO papers are prepared and submitted on a timely basis; and
Debt is available for on-lending to Network MFIs as needed.
Development of lender pipeline and lead on negotiation and execution of lender contracts:
New funds are effectively and efficiently sourced;
Market scanning is undertaken to identify new funding sources and products;
Relationships with new funders are established with a focus on those willing to offer concessional lending terms;
Innovative financing products and partnerships are designed and launched;
Presentations, marketing materials and offering circulars showcasing VFI in a professional and compelling manner are prepared;
Due diligence processes are professionally conducted;
Effective lead on negotiation and execution of lender contracts with input obtained from WVI Treasury and WVI Legal;
Standard loan terms and covenants across lender contracts are negotiated;
Approval requests are submitted to ALCO and the VFI Board; and
VFI is well-represented at lender conferences and innovative financing events.
Support the Network Finance Director as required for funding of MFIs ensuring:
Global lender relationships are well-managed across the Network;
Loan terms and covenants are negotiated on a standardised basis across lenders and MFIs;
MFI lender covenants are monitored and any potential non-compliance is addressed and managed;
MFIs are supported when circumstances arise requiring renegotiation of loan terms with lenders.
Global Finance Team leadership:
Member of VFI Global Finance Leadership Team;
Model Christian leadership and VFI Core Values in all interactions;
Inspire and nurture the spiritual and professional development of direct report and Global Finance Team members; and
Participate in and lead team devotions.
Oversight of the following responsibilities of the Asset Management Specialist:
Preparation of materials for lenders;
Co-ordination of timelines and deliverables for due diligence processes and contract review, execution, loan disbursement and repayment;
Preparation of lender reports;
Preparation of analysis for ALCO reports;
Capital markets database management;
Research on potential lenders; and
KYC on lenders.
Undertake any other activities required to support the successful functioning of the Global Finance Team.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE:
Required
A professional accounting designation (e.g. CPA/ACA), treasury qualification (e.g. MCT), investment management qualification (e.g. CFA) or a Masters degree in business or finance.
8-10 years of professional relevant experience.
A minimum of 5 years external experience working in the treasury or capital markets functions of a multinational organization or major financial institution, preferably at a Group level.
Debt capital markets experience including the issuance of a variety of debt instruments.
Experience in pitching/marketing to potential clients and/or investors.
Negotiating skills with clients and/or investors during live interactions and through contract negotiation and final execution of agreement.
Thorough knowledge of investment products including regulatory and taxation aspects and legal documentation.
Experience of developing, maintaining and managing client and/or investor relationships.
Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills in both oral and written forms.
Excellent PowerPoint (creating presentations and decks) and Excel skills.
Strong project management and organizational skills including co-ordination with external advisers.
Strong analysis and problem-solving skills and ability to find innovative and creative solutions.
Solid understanding of financial reporting and performance measurements and planning and forecasting.
Cross-culturally sensitive to work with associates from every area of the world.
Able to manage a broad base of internal and external stakeholders.
A balanced and respectful approach to teams' differing responsibilities.
Able to balance Christian values with commercial practices.
Preferred
Experience in microfinance funding or innovation/impact funding.
Emerging/developing markets experience.
Language and travel
English fluency.
Willingness and ability to travel 15% of the time.
