Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Manager, Cartography, the jobholder will be responsible for undertaking activities in the Cartography Division.

Key responsibilities

Designing geo-spatial data collection instruments;

Carrying out pre-testing and piloting of geo-spatial mapping instruments;

Collecting, collating and analyzing geospatial data;

Identifying administrative boundaries for census mapping and sampling units;

Delineating and updating Enumeration Areas (EAs) for censuses and surveys;

Disseminating Information, Education and Communication materials for census mapping;

Geo referencing and digitizing boundaries and features;

Symbolizing, generalizing and simplifying features;

Creating, joining and populating attribute tables with statistical data;

Updating the geo databases;

Preparing and producing maps as per stakeholder’s request;

Calculating area measurements for census units; and

Generating geo-codes

Undertaking any other duties lawfully assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements for Appointment

Bachelor’s degree in any of the following:- Geomatics; Geo-spatial Engineering; Geomatics Engineering, Geospatial Information Science or any other related qualifications from a recognized institution

Proficiency in computer applications.
