Job Description
- This is the entry grade for the Cook cadre. An Officer at this level will work under a senior officer.
Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:
- Preparing meals and service delivery
- Receiving menu interpretation from the immediate supervisor;
- Setting up work stations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment;
- Checking quality of ingredients;
- Keeping a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen;
- Operating and maintaining kitchen equipment such as boilers, ovens, grills, fryers and any other kitchen equipment;
- Ensuring portion control during service time to ensure right quantity of food is served; and
- Preparing and producing food.
Person Specifications
For appointment to this grade a candidate must have:
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade of D (Plain) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- Craft Certificate in any of the following disciplines: Food Production, Food and Beverage Production, Food and Beverage Service and Sales or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- Food Handlers' Certificate; and
- Certificate in computer application skills.
