For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
- Work experience of at least six (6) years;
- Bachelors of Dental Surgery (DS) degree from a recognized institution by Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council;
- Masters of Dental Surgery in Orthodontics from a recognized institution by Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council;
- A valid certificate of registration by Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council;
- Valid Specialist Practising License from Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council;
- Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution; and
- Demonstrated a high degree of professional competence and administrative capability in the management of health services in a large health institution.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Performing specific dental care procedures including restorative, prosthodontics, pedodontics, orthodontics, minor oral- facial surgeries and periodontology;
- Being on call for review and manage dental health patients;
- Undertaking medico-legal duties which include filling of P.3 forms;
- Undertaking dental examinations, age assessment and writing dental reports;
- Conducting outreach community oral health services;
- Referring complex cases;
- Educating and creating awareness on prevention of dental diseases and dental health;
- Maintaining up to date dental health patients’ records and biodata;
- Supervising training, coaching dental interns and students;
- Ensuring that dental health reports are prepared and submitted promptly;
- Coordinating preparation of annual work plans and ensuring they are adhered to; and
- Coordinating capacity building and deployment of dental personnel.
