Background

The English Teacher with Film/Media will deliver specialized instruction in Film and Media Studies within the IB Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme. The role integrates creative and analytical approaches to teaching, focusing on both theoretical and practical aspects of film and media.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The teacher will plan, deliver, and assess lessons in Film and Media aligned with IB curriculum standards, ensuring that students develop both conceptual understanding and technical skills.

The role includes teaching film theory, history, and critical analysis, enabling students to interpret and evaluate media from diverse perspectives.

The successful candidate will guide students through the full film production process, including scripting, storyboarding, filming, sound design, and editing, ensuring hands-on learning experiences.

Assessment responsibilities include supporting students in completing IB internal and external assessments, such as portfolios, comparative studies, and collaborative projects.

The teacher will integrate IB Approaches to Teaching and Learning (ATL) skills, inquiry-based methodologies, and reflective practices into classroom instruction.

Providing feedback and mentorship is a key aspect of the role, supporting students in their creative and academic development.

The teacher will maintain accurate records of student performance and contribute to reporting processes in line with IB requirements.

Collaboration with colleagues is essential to support interdisciplinary learning and contribute to the broader arts and academic programmes.

The role also involves supporting co-curricular activities, including exhibitions, productions, and film-related events.

The teacher is expected to uphold safeguarding standards and contribute positively to the institutional culture and values of the Academy.
