Position: Home Science Teacher
Location: Samburu

Job Purpose

The Home Science Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality Home Science lessons, developing learners' practical and theoretical skills, and preparing them for academic assessments. The successful candidate should be passionate about teaching, practical skills development, and learner success.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Home Science lessons in accordance with the relevant curriculum.
• Prepare lesson plans, schemes of work, teaching materials, practical activities, assignments, and assessments.
• Conduct practical Home Science lessons safely and effectively.
• Teach relevant areas such as food and nutrition, clothing and textiles, home management, health, and other curriculum components as applicable.
• Assess learners through classwork, assignments, practical activities, tests, and examinations.
• Maintain accurate records of learners' academic progress.
• Identify learners who require additional academic support and provide appropriate assistance.
• Prepare learners adequately for internal and external examinations.
• Ensure proper use, storage, and maintenance of Home Science equipment and materials.
• Promote hygiene, safety, creativity, critical thinking, and practical problem-solving skills.
• Maintain good classroom discipline and create a positive learning environment.
• Participate in staff meetings, school activities, examinations, and co-curricular programmes.
• Work collaboratively with other teachers and the school administration.
• Provide appropriate guidance and mentorship to learners.
• Communicate professionally with parents and guardians regarding learners' progress where required.
• Perform other duties assigned by the school administration.

Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant teaching qualification in Home Science or a related field from a recognized institution.
• Strong knowledge of Home Science theory and practical skills.
• Relevant teaching experience will be an added advantage.
• Good classroom management and communication skills.
• Ability to conduct practical lessons effectively and safely.
• Good knowledge of relevant curriculum and assessment requirements.
