- The Housekeeping Supervisor oversees the daily and strategic cleaning operations of the school.
- This role ensures that routine cleaning, hygiene maintenance, and scheduled deep cleaning programs are performed to international standards. The supervisor ensures compliance with safety regulations, manages staff performance, and ensures all areas—including classrooms, offices, laboratories, washrooms, sports areas, and common spaces—are clean, safe, and welcoming.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Supervision & Scheduling
- Direct, supervise, and coordinate the daily activities of the cleaning team.
- Develop and implement weekly and monthly cleaning schedules, including termly and pre-opening sanitation routines.
- Adjust cleaning schedules to accommodate school events, emergencies, and weekend functions.
- Supervise proper use and storage of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
- Deep Cleaning Oversight (Monthly & Termly)
- Lead the planning and execution of monthly deep cleaning across all school facilities.
- Supervise:
- Carpet shampooing and machine floor scrubbing.
- High dusting (ceiling corners, fans, vents, and lighting).
- Thorough sanitation of lockers, desks, furniture, and shared learning equipment.
- Deep disinfection and descaling of toilets, urinals, sinks, and tiles.
- Comprehensive indoor and outdoor window washing.
- Coordinate deep cleaning activities during holiday breaks and before school reopening.
- Ensure proper documentation and checklist sign-off for all deep cleaning tasks.
- Hygiene & Quality Control
- Conduct daily walk-through inspections and enforce hygiene standards across all areas.
- Verify hourly hygiene logs and cleanliness of high-use areas like washrooms, cloakrooms,
- and sports facilities.
- Identify maintenance needs and liaise with relevant departments for timely resolution.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and submit procurement requests as needed.
- Staff Training & Development
- Train new cleaners and offer continuous guidance on cleaning techniques, hygiene protocols, and safe chemical use.
- Organize briefings on handling sensitive areas like IT rooms, labs, and sports floors.
- Champion a culture of professionalism, respect, and safety among the cleaning staff.

Qualifications, skills and expectations:
- Diploma in Housekeeping or a related field.

- Demonstrated experience in planning and supervising deep cleaning operations.
- Excellent planning, team management and interpersonal skills.
- Fluent in English and Kiswahili.
- Proficient in maintaining cleaning checklists, stock tracking, and team scheduling.
