Basic job summary:

  • The jobholder is responsible for supervising the daily operations of housekeeping staff and ensure that university facilities, including hostels, academic blocks, offices, and common areas—are maintained in a clean, hygienic, and orderly condition. The role supports the delivery of a safe and pleasant environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assign and oversee cleaning tasks across designated university zones.
  • Supervise the work of housekeeping staff and ensure timely completion of duties.
  • Conduct daily inspections to verify cleanliness and report maintenance needs.
  • Standards and Compliance Monitoring
  • Ensure adherence to university housekeeping policies, cleanliness standards, and safety regulations.
  • Monitor the proper use of cleaning equipment, materials, and protective gear.
  • Support the implementation of health, safety, and hygiene practices, especially in shared and hightraffic areas.
  • Assist in onboarding and training new housekeeping staff on procedures and quality expectations
  • Conduct refresher sessions on hygiene, chemical handling, and safety protocols.
  • Promote teamwork and provide performance feedback to junior staff.
  • Report damaged facilities, pest issues, or emergencies to the appropriate departments.
  • Handle minor complaints related to cleanliness and follow up on resolutions.
  • Liaise with students, staff, and supervisors to coordinate special cleaning requests or event preparations.

Minimum Academic Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Housekeeping, Hospitality Management, or Facilities Management.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant job experience
