Basic job summary:
- The jobholder is responsible for supervising the daily operations of housekeeping staff and ensure that university facilities, including hostels, academic blocks, offices, and common areas—are maintained in a clean, hygienic, and orderly condition. The role supports the delivery of a safe and pleasant environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assign and oversee cleaning tasks across designated university zones.
- Supervise the work of housekeeping staff and ensure timely completion of duties.
- Conduct daily inspections to verify cleanliness and report maintenance needs.
- Standards and Compliance Monitoring
- Ensure adherence to university housekeeping policies, cleanliness standards, and safety regulations.
- Monitor the proper use of cleaning equipment, materials, and protective gear.
- Support the implementation of health, safety, and hygiene practices, especially in shared and hightraffic areas.
- Assist in onboarding and training new housekeeping staff on procedures and quality expectations
- Conduct refresher sessions on hygiene, chemical handling, and safety protocols.
- Promote teamwork and provide performance feedback to junior staff.
- Report damaged facilities, pest issues, or emergencies to the appropriate departments.
- Handle minor complaints related to cleanliness and follow up on resolutions.
- Liaise with students, staff, and supervisors to coordinate special cleaning requests or event preparations.
Minimum Academic Qualifications:
- Diploma in Housekeeping, Hospitality Management, or Facilities Management.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant job experience
