ABOUT THE COMPANY
Kenya Electricity Generating Company Limited, KenGen is the leading electric power generation company in Kenya, producing about 75 percent of electricity capacity installed in the country. The company utilizes various sources to generate electricity ranging from hydro, geothermal, thermal and wind.
JOB SUMMARY
Hydrologists are responsible for obtaining hydro-meteorological data/information to advice the Company on future hydro-generation thus ensuring adequate resource assessment for long term generation capacity expansion.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Meteorology/Natural or Water Resources Management or equivalent from a recognized institution
Must be Prepared to serve anywhere in any of the business areas in Kenya
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review and present proposals for new ideas in energy planning studies for marketing.
- Prepare short and medium term Energy and Power output capability plans under various forecasts and scenarios of hydrology.
- Obtain hydro-meteorological data/information to advice the Company on future hydro-generation.
- Monitor energy and power output projections/budgets.
- Oversee collection, storage, and analysis of energy resource.
- Develop and regularly update the Least Cost Power Development Plan and other National Energy Masterplans, policies and strategies.
- Monitor the Company's interconnected energy production system and the storage levels performance in relation to the Energy Budget projection.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Data collection, Reporting, Contract drafting and preparation, Power and energy solutions
REQUIRED EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree
