The role
We are adding a Junior UI Engineer to the team to help us support a regional financial services provider that is currently expanding their operations. In this role, you will focus on building and refining the internal interfaces their staff use to manage accounts and process daily transactions. You will be working on the practical tools that help these employees do their jobs without the friction of outdated or messy systems.
About Pixel Systems
Pixel Systems is a small, fully remote software agency. We do not build flashy consumer apps or marketing websites. Instead, we focus on the systems that actually run a business, like admin panels, CRM integrations, and database migrations. Our clients come to us when they need to get away from sprawling spreadsheets and move toward stable, custom software.
We believe that working code is better than a perfect plan that never ships. Our approach is simple: we provide fixed quotes, we do weekly demos, and we hand over everything when we are finished. We use reliable technologies like Node, React, and Postgres because we want the software we build to be maintainable for years. We are a team of developers and designers who prefer solving real operational headaches over chasing temporary trends.
The Role
As a Junior UI Engineer, your main focus will be the interface and user experience of the tools we build. You will take layouts and turn them into functional, reliable React components. For this specific project with our financial services client, you will be creating clear data tables, simple forms, and internal dashboards that make complex financial data easy to read and navigate. This is a fully remote, full time position where you will focus on the following tasks:
- Building and styling components using React and modern CSS.
- Ensuring that internal tools are easy to use for office staff who rely on them all day.
- Connecting front end interfaces to existing APIs to display and update data.
- Cleaning up styling debt and making sure the user interface stays consistent.
- Participating in weekly demos to show progress to the team and the client.
- Writing documentation and creating short videos to explain how new features work.
What You Bring
You do not need many years of experience to join us, but you should have a solid grasp of the basics. We look for people who are organized and take pride in writing readable code. Since we are a remote agency, you must be a clear communicator who is comfortable asking questions when a requirement is unclear.
- Strong understanding of HTML and CSS layouts.
- Basic knowledge of JavaScript and some experience with the React framework.
- An interest in building functional tools for business users rather than consumer marketing sites.
- A preference for simple, stable solutions over complex or experimental ones.
- The ability to manage your own schedule and stay productive in a remote setting.
- Willingness to learn how to debug common front end issues and performance bottlenecks.
Helpful Background
While not strictly required, we are interested in seeing any examples of work you have done before. This could be from your studies, personal projects, or a previous internship.
- Experience using Git and GitHub for version control in a team or on a project.
- Familiarity with CSS frameworks like Tailwind or component libraries.
- An understanding of how to work with REST APIs.
- Familiarity with browser developer tools for troubleshooting.
- Any experience building internal tools or data dashboards.
Working at Pixel Systems
We offer a straightforward work environment without layers of management or corporate politics. You will work closely with our senior developers and designers, which gives you the chance to see how professional software is built and shipped. This is a permanent position that is 100 percent remote. We value work life balance and do not expect you to stay online after the work day is done. The pay for this role is competitive for the entry level market and reflects the importance of the work we do for our clients.
At Pixel Systems, we find satisfaction in building software that solves a specific problem for a specific group of people. Whether it is helping a warehouse manager track inventory or helping an operations team at a bank process paperwork, we focus on the utility of the code. We are a small team that relies on honesty and clarity to get things finished.
