Position overview
Kentap Medical Center is seeking a qualified and experienced Medical Laboratory Technologist. The successful candidate will work across the Mlolongo and Mavoko SNP branches depending on operational requirements. The role requires a careful and dependable professional who can manage a high volume of samples without compromising accuracy, quality or patient safety.
Key responsibilities
- Collect, receive, label and process patient specimens correctly.
- Perform authorised laboratory tests and maintain accurate records.
- Review results and promptly escalate critical or unusual findings.
- Conduct and document internal quality-control procedures.
- Operate laboratory equipment and report maintenance requirements.
- Maintain proper storage of reagents, supplies and specimens.
- Follow biosafety, infection-prevention and waste-management procedures.
- Protect patient information and maintain confidentiality.
- Work closely with clinicians to support timely patient care.
- Participate in assigned shifts, including applicable nights, weekends and public holidays.
- Perform other professional duties within the authorised scope of practice.
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognised institution.
- Registration with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board.
- Current and valid practising licence.
- At least three years of relevant laboratory experience.
- Experience working in a busy medical facility.
- Strong knowledge of quality control, biosafety and laboratory procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail, integrity and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work across the Mlolongo and Mavoko SNP branches.
- Availability to report on 1 September 2026.
