Position overview

Kentap Medical Center is seeking a qualified and experienced Medical Laboratory Technologist. The successful candidate will work across the Mlolongo and Mavoko SNP branches depending on operational requirements. The role requires a careful and dependable professional who can manage a high volume of samples without compromising accuracy, quality or patient safety.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, receive, label and process patient specimens correctly.
• Perform authorised laboratory tests and maintain accurate records.
• Review results and promptly escalate critical or unusual findings.
• Conduct and document internal quality-control procedures.
• Operate laboratory equipment and report maintenance requirements.
• Maintain proper storage of reagents, supplies and specimens.
• Follow biosafety, infection-prevention and waste-management procedures.
• Protect patient information and maintain confidentiality.
• Work closely with clinicians to support timely patient care.
• Participate in assigned shifts, including applicable nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Perform other professional duties within the authorised scope of practice.

Requirements

• Diploma or degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognised institution.
• Registration with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board.
• Current and valid practising licence.
• At least three years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Experience working in a busy medical facility.
• Strong knowledge of quality control, biosafety and laboratory procedures.
• Excellent attention to detail, integrity and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to work across the Mlolongo and Mavoko SNP branches.
• Availability to report on 1 September 2026.
