JOB SUMMARY
The position holder will be responsible for the growth of micro finance portfolio, monitoring and evaluation of finances by ensuring the group bond is intact.
Duties and responsibilities
- Assisting in identifying and forming of micro finance groups and training;
- Participating in training of groups;
- Making group visits;
- Carrying business assessment for loan applications;
- Appraising loan applications in strict conformity with the micro finance policy;
- Tracking loans and making follow-ups on defaulted loans;
- Ensuring reconciliation of group accounts are done regularly;
- Mobilizing resources for expansion and growth of micro finance program;
- Ensuring proper business assessment is done for all loan applications;
- Writing monthly micro credit reports for the groups;
- Ensuring micro credit loan applications are properly and accurately appraised;
- Closely monitoring business performance of loanees and detect early any signs of defaulting;
- Ensuring strict adherence to micro credit policy in loan granting and loan administration.
- Advising the supervisor on the lending rates after careful consideration of the cost of the deposits used in lending;
- Ensuring all micro credit loan applications are promptly submitted for approval;
- Facilitating groups to keep accurate records and in particular to regularly reconcile group accounts records;
- To ensure proper maintenance of members records and in particular members files, registers and member accounts;
- Ensuring proper management of micro finance loan portfolio;
- Performing any other duties that may be assigned.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
Academic & Professional Qualifications
- Minimum Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (C) Plain
- Diploma in credit management or related course.
- Minimum CPA section 11
- Age 28 – 35 years
Experience:
2 to 3 years’ experience as an micro credit assistant or small lending, preferable within a Sacco or micro finance institution or a bank
Skills and Competencies
- Good leadership and business skills in micro lending in a financial institution
- High initiative and ability to work independently with minimum supervision;
- A person of high integrity and ethical behavior;
- Ability to use computers and related technology efficiently;
- Be result oriented and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- A good understanding of credit with relevant skills in lending and. recovery
