Microcredit Assistant at Winas Saving And Credit Co-operative Society Limited

JOB SUMMARY

The position holder will be responsible for the growth of micro finance portfolio, monitoring and evaluation of finances by ensuring the group bond is intact.          

Duties and responsibilities

  1. Assisting in identifying and forming of micro finance groups and training;
  2. Participating in training of groups;
  3. Making group visits;
  4. Carrying business assessment for loan applications;
  5. Appraising loan applications in strict conformity with the micro finance policy;
  6. Tracking loans and making follow-ups on defaulted loans;
  7. Ensuring reconciliation of group accounts are done regularly;
  8. Mobilizing resources for expansion and growth of micro finance program;
  9. Ensuring proper business assessment is done for all loan applications;
  10. Writing monthly micro credit reports for the groups;
  11. Ensuring micro credit loan applications are properly and accurately appraised;
  12. Closely monitoring business performance of loanees and detect early any signs of defaulting;
  13. Ensuring strict adherence to micro credit policy in loan granting and loan administration.
  14. Advising the supervisor on the lending rates after careful consideration of the cost of the deposits used in lending;
  15. Ensuring all micro credit loan applications are promptly submitted for approval;
  16. Facilitating groups to keep accurate records and in particular to regularly reconcile group accounts records;
  17. To ensure proper maintenance of members records and in particular members files, registers and member accounts;
  18. Ensuring proper management of micro finance loan portfolio;
  19. Performing any other duties that may be assigned.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

Academic & Professional Qualifications

  • Minimum Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (C) Plain
  • Diploma in credit management or related course.
  • Minimum CPA section 11
  • Age 28 – 35 years

Experience:   

2 to 3 years’ experience as an micro credit assistant or small lending, preferable within a Sacco or micro finance institution or a bank

Skills and Competencies

  • Good leadership and business skills in micro lending in a financial institution
  • High initiative and ability to work independently with minimum supervision;
  • A person of high integrity and ethical behavior;
  • Ability to use computers and related technology efficiently;
  • Be result oriented and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • A good understanding of credit with relevant skills in lending and. recovery
