  • We seek a skilled and dedicated Mobile Veterinarian to support poultry farmers.The role involves visiting 12 farmers daily for 5 days to 10 days each month to improve poultry health, productivity, and farmer livelihoods through vaccinations, treatments, and extension services. This position is critical to reducing disease-related losses and building resilience in a challenging arid region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Field Visits:
  • Conduct 60-120 farmer visits monthly (12 per day, 5-10 days/month depending on location) to assess and treat poultry flocks.
  • Veterinary Services:
  • Administer vaccinations (e.g., Newcastle Disease) and basic treatments for common poultry ailments.
  • Perform health checks and recommend management improvements.
  • Farmer Training:
  • Educate farmers on biosecurity, disease prevention, and basic poultry care during visits.
  • Reporting:
  • Document each visit (e.g., number of birds treated, issues observed, Mortalities) and submit a monthly report by the 15th of the following month.
  • Coordination:
  • Work with the project team to schedule visits and ensure supply of vaccines and materials.

Qualifications

  • Education: Certificate or diploma in Animal Health and production from a recognized institution.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 years of practical experience with poultry, ideally in rural or arid settings.
  • Licensing: Valid veterinary practice license from the Kenya Veterinary Board.
