Pediatrics

Job Summary: 

Provide high-quality, patient-centered care to neonates, infants, children & adolescents.  This role involves diagnosing and managing a variety of pediatric conditions, administering treatments, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure the well-being of patients.

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide expert-level clinical care to infants, children, and adolescents in line with current pediatric guidelines and Penda Health standards.
  • Perform thorough history taking and comprehensive physical examinations tailored to pediatric developmental stages
  • Diagnose and manage both common and complex childhood illnesses, developmental issues, and chronic conditions.
  • Develop and lead individualized, patient-centered care plans that incorporate medical, nutritional, and developmental interventions, while ensuring continuity of care through appropriate follow-up and active caregiver engagement.
  • Provide emergency and acute care support by stabilizing acutely ill pediatric patients, guiding the team in pediatric emergency protocols, and initiating timely referrals to higher levels of care when necessary.
  • Educate parents and guardians on child health, nutrition, hygiene, and preventive measures.
  • Work closely with general providers, nurses, lab, pharmacy, and other departments to ensure coordinated care.
  • Mentor and support clinical development by guiding providers in pediatric care and sharing knowledge through CMEs, case reviews, and feedback sessions.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, and comply with all relevant legal and ethical standards related to Clinical documentation, patient confidentiality, and privacy at Penda Health.

  • Review pediatric clinical outcomes, participate in audits, and help shape strategies to improve child health services across branches.

Requirements: 

  • At least 1 year of post-training experience in Pediatrics, either as a full-time or part-time consultant.
  • Master’s in Pediatrics and Child Health
  • A Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB)
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
