Job Summary

The Radiographer/Sonographer is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures (X-ray, ultrasound, and related modalities) to support accurate diagnosis and patient care. The role ensures patient safety, image quality, equipment maintenance, and compliance with radiation protection and diagnostic standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic imaging procedures including general radiography, ultrasound, and other assigned modalities.
• Prepare patients for procedures, explain the process, and ensure comfort and safety.
• Position patients correctly and operate imaging equipment to obtain high-quality images.
• Evaluate images for technical quality and identify abnormalities requiring further review.
• Collaborate with radiologists and clinicians to interpret and report findings.
• Ensure proper use of radiation protection measures (lead aprons, collimation, shielding) for patients and staff.
• Maintain and calibrate imaging equipment; report faults for repair.
• Follow infection prevention and control protocols, including disinfection of equipment and probes.
• Maintain accurate patient records, imaging logs, and reports.
• Manage patient scheduling, workflow, and prioritization of emergency cases.
• Ensure compliance with national radiation safety regulations and licensing requirements.
• Participate in quality assurance, audits, and continuous improvement of imaging services.
• Train and mentor junior staff, interns, and students.
• Maintain inventory of consumables (films, gels, contrast media, etc.).
• Adhere to patient confidentiality and ethical standards.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Radiography / Medical Imaging / Diagnostic Radiography.
• Additional qualification or training in Ultrasound/Sonography is required (or strongly preferred).
• Valid registration/license with the relevant regulatory body.
• Minimum 2–5 years of experience in diagnostic imaging, including ultrasound.
• Knowledge of radiation safety, imaging protocols, and equipment operation.
• Familiarity with PACS, RIS, and electronic medical records is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent patient care, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle emergency cases.
• High integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
• Physical stamina to assist patients and operate equipment.
