Scope of Work: 

  • The selected individual will be responsible for: 
  • Reviewing current fundraising strategies and progress with partners in East Africa (either  Ethiopia or Kenya and Uganda).  fundraising for those organisations and understand and respect their organisational values  and principles. 
  • Scoping, prospecting and supporting partners with relationship building with donors funding  in East Africa (Either Ethiopia or Kenya and Uganda)  Providing practical advice and support with development of proposals with and for  Either  Ethiopia or Kenya and Uganda) 
  • We envisage that work will mainly focus on income from foundations including corporate  foundations but may also include funding from embassies and high net worth individuals. 
  • We anticipate Fundraising Advisors working within Ethiopia and Kenya/Uganda to be in  contact if there are potential opportunities for multi-country collaboration across the region  AWESOME consortium (e.g. for consortia projects across Ethiopia/Kenya and Uganda).  Sharing insight, learning and connections to inform future plans for the Fundraising Adviser  role and to inform implementation of  partners to share prospects where funders will not fund partners directly in line with 

Deliverables: 

  • An inception plan for work to be carried out based on initial conversations with Womankind  partners and understanding of their fundraising priorities. 
  • Development of a pipeline of potential funding opportunities for Womankind partners in  Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda. 
  • Make introductions and advise on donor meeting strategies for partners face-to-face or  virtually 
  • Development of and/or review of existing partner fundraising strategies
  • Support with collation of partner material used for fundraising to reuse for future  prospects 
  • Development of learning and sharing moments between partners to assist with  organisational sustainability 
  • Regular updates and check-ins with the Manager, Resourcing Feminist Movements to share 
  • knowledge and learning. 
  • Final Review Meeting with the Manager, Resourcing Feminist Movements at the end of the  contract to highlight key learnings from the consultancy process to inform future fundraising  advisor roles within Womankind Worldwide. 

Proposal Submission: 

  • Interested individuals are invited to submit a detailed proposal addressing the following:
  • Overview: Provide an overview of you as an individual or team of consultants
  • Feminist values: Demonstrate your principles of gender equality, social justice and the 
  • Approach and Methodology: Outline your approach to the assignment, including the  methodologies and tools 
  • Skills and experience: Highlight your skills, qualifications and experience relevant to this  project. We are particularly interested in consultants with experience of: securing large trust  and foundation funding from a range of donors internationally; participatory project design  working with a variety of different organisations at different stages in their fundraising  journey; leading and facilitating proposal development workshops with multiple partners;  the ability to translate opportunities into practical plans of action and very strong  interpersonal communication and writing skills both in person and working in a virtual  environment. 
  • We are also looking for a someone with the ability and willingness to work flexibly within  this assignment and to potentially undertake overseas travel. 
  • Timeline: Propose a realistic timeline for completing this piece of work, including key milestones and deliverables dates (note the timeframe for the assignment is between 6-9  months) 
  • Cost proposal: Provide a detailed cost proposal, including all fees, expenses, and any  budget ceiling for each of these pieces of work is £20,000 (combined total of £40,000).
