Research Assistants- Turkana at Capture Associates
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Successful applicants will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Participate and successfully complete training for field data collection.
- Understand the activities and objectives of the baseline study.
- Locate key informants and administer Key Informant Interviews.
- Recruit participants for Focus Group Discussions.
- Facilitate focus group discussions with stakeholders such as parents, teachers, and civil society.
- Accurately capture and record data and information from KIIs and FGDs on physical papers and online data entry forms.
- Liaise with the experts where technical support is required and make daily progress reports.
- Follow clear standards set and comply with all the requirements for a successful interview.
- Ensure adherence to the Code of Conduct for data collection.
- Anticipate unusual situations and make quick and responsible decisions.
- Handle respondent queries and give appropriate responses and/or references.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The assignment required research assistants with the following skills and experience:
- Possess at least a diploma or a bachelor’s degree.
- Previous experience undertaking KIIs, FGDs, and Learner Assessments preferred.
- Understanding of the education sector is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of mobile data collection is an added advantage.
- Proven ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be a resident of the counties covered by the study, i.e., Kajiado and understand the local schools’ geography well. People living within Kakuma are encouraged to apply.
- Possess a smartphone with at least Android version 11.0.
- Those with experience supervising data collection/facilitating FGDs will be considered for a coordinator/facilitator role.
