Main responsibilities
- The Senior Fundraising Lead will be responsible for the following:
- Strategic Fundraising Oversight
- You will provide strategic oversight of our fundraising efforts, designing and implementing a multiyear strategy to achieve income targets and enable the sustainable growth of our programmes. A key focus will be driving the growth of unrestricted income. This role will also involve close coordination of donor communications across departments, ensuring alignment and consistency in our engagement.
- Innovation & Diversification of Income Streams
- You will work with the COO and CEOs to explore and develop new income streams that increase Lion Landscapes financial resilience, including mechanisms for building corporate partnerships.
- Grant Portfolio Management

This involves close collaboration with the Communications Lead to craft compelling narratives and with the Finance Lead to ensure accurate and aligned budgeting.
- Donor Stewardship & Engagement
- You will be responsible for building and maintaining strong, trusted relationships with major donors and philanthropic partners, ensuring they feel valued and informed about the impact of their support. Working with the Fundraising Assistant, you will oversee the delivery of timely donor acknowledgements, engaging communications, and campaign execution. You will use Salesforce to manage donor pipelines, track prospects, and implement tailored engagement strategies to deepen donor relationships and drive long-term support.
- Campaign Strategy & Individual Giving
- You will lead the development of individual giving campaigns, designing thoughtful and engaging supporter journeys that strengthen both donor retention and acquisition. Working closely with the Fundraising Assistant, you will oversee effective campaign delivery. In collaboration with the Communications Lead, you will ensure that content and storytelling are strategically aligned with fundraising goals to maximise reach and impact.
- Line Management & Team Support
- You will line-manage the Fundraising Assistant, providing clear direction, setting objectives, reviewing outputs, and supporting their professional growth through regular feedback and development opportunities.
- Reporting & Insights
- You will be responsible for tracking fundraising performance and analysing income trends to inform strategic decision-making. This includes preparing clear, data-driven reports and delivering regular insights through quarterly reviews and Board updates, ensuring transparency and alignment on progress toward fundraising goals.
- Other Key responsibilities
- You will play a key role in identifying opportunities for innovation and growth, maintaining ethical and transparent fundraising practices, and representing Lion Landscapes to external partners and networks. As part of the senior leadership team, you will contribute to organisational planning and ensure that fundraising efforts are integrated with our broader mission and strategic direction.
Experience and Skills
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in fundraising, with a strong track record in grant management, donor engagement, and leading fundraising teams.
- Proven ability to develop and implement strategic fundraising plans that drive income growth and support organisational sustainability.
- Excellent writing, communication, and relationship-building skills, with experience crafting compelling proposals and donor communications.
- Proficiency in donor segmentation, pipeline management, and the use of CRM systems (Salesforce preferred).
- Experience working cross-departmentally to align fundraising with programme, finance, and communications priorities.
- Knowledge of conservation or international development contexts is an advantage.
