You’ve proven you can hit your numbers. Now lead the sales engine that connects millions of Kenyans to life-changing products.

You’re accomplished and respected, and you’re probably happy where you are. But are you energised?

M-KOPA now serves 7 million customers (up from 5 million in 2024) and has unlocked over $2 billion in credit. 86% of customers report improved quality of life, and 55% are accessing a product or service for the first time. With 2,300+ employees and 35,000 agents, we’re building the leadership structure for the move to 10 million customers. Kenya’s field sales organisation is where that growth is won.

What Makes This Different

Most senior sales roles offer strategy or execution. This one demands both. You’ll represent field priorities in senior leadership forums, then visit clusters and coach Regional Managers on the ground. You’ll own budgets and build people. You’ll drive conversion while protecting repayment performance.

About Us

We foster a culture where commercial leadership meets field accountability. Our team values data-driven decision-making, strong people development, and sales execution that doesn’t compromise customer outcomes. You’ll be empowered to make timely performance decisions, design territory strategies, and drive improvements that directly impact revenue, DSR productivity, and customer satisfaction across M-KOPA Kenya’s most critical growth function.

At M-KOPA, our Senior Commercial Manager isn’t just a sales director—they’re the commercial architect who builds regional leaders, protects sales quality, and creates the field execution engine that connects millions of Kenyan customers to life-changing products.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead four regions. Translate strategy into regional plans, develop Regional Managers, and make fair, timely decisions on performance, promotions, and exits, using scorecards, coaching, and field visits to keep execution consistent.
  • Drive DSR productivity and recruitment quality. Improve sales per DSR, active selling days, and conversion. Own hiring plans with HR, hold teams accountable for F30 pass rates, and reduce attrition at its root.
  • Run the commercial discipline. Own regional budgets and incentives, track cost per sale, report to senior leadership and the MD, oversee product and pricing rollouts, and enforce sales standards and customer protections across Product, Marketing, Credit, Finance, and HR.

What You Bring

  • Extensive, progressive sales leadership experience in high-volume field sales (FMCG, telecoms, financial services, fintech, distribution), including leading managers across multiple regions with a clear record of hitting targets. A bachelor’s degree is expected; an MBA is an advantage.
  • Demonstrable experience running DSR or distributor networks, including territory design, and a proven record in recruitment and retention. Asset finance or pay-as-you-go experience is an advantage.
  • Strong financial acumen, comfort with dashboards and forecasting, and the integrity to hold standards under pressure.

This is a Band C1 role based in Nairobi, reporting to the Head of Sales, with regular field travel. It’s demanding, and you’re probably ready for exactly this.

Why M-KOPA?

At M-KOPA, we empower our people to own their careers through diverse development programs, coaching partnerships, and on-the-job training. We support individual journeys with family-friendly policies, prioritize well-being, and embrace flexibility.
