Farsight Africa is looking a Social Media Content Monitoring and Analysis Specialist who will be responsible for tracking, analyzing, and reporting on online conversations and media coverage relevant to our clients. The role involves developing data-driven insights to inform client communication strategies, reputation management, and audience engagement. The specialist will also contribute to crisis monitoring and help advise client to optimize messaging through continuous learning from analytics

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze social media content across platforms (Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.).
  • Track brand mentions, trends, sentiment, and key topics across digital media, including news and blogs.
  • Prepare regular reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly) with insights and recommendations based on social media analytics.
  • Issue real-time alerts for high-impact or crisis-related mentions.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of audience engagement, reach, impressions, and media framing.
  • Use social listening and analytics tools to extract and visualize data (e.g., Hootsuite, Brandwatch, Meltwater, Talkwalker, Sprout Social, Google Analytics).
  • Provide inputs to improve the organization’s social media strategy and content effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with communication and advocacy teams to tailor messaging based on audience data.
  • Stay current with evolving social media trends, algorithms, and best practices.
  • Support campaign evaluation and digital communication impact assessments.

Education:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Communications, Media Studies, Public Relations, Marketing, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications in social media analytics, digital marketing, or media monitoring tools are an asset.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in social media management, digital communications, or media analysis.
  • Proven track record of using social media monitoring and analytics tools to generate actionable insights.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to align communications and digital strategies.
  • Previous experience supporting international development, UN agencies, NGOs, or public sector organizations is desirable.

Technical Skills and Competencies:

  • Demonstrated expertise in using tools like Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Meltwater, Brandwatch, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret digital data into meaningful strategic insights.
  • Excellent writing and reporting skills with the ability to communicate findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with data visualization and dashboard tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Google Data Studio) is an advantage.
  • Tech-savvy and proactive in learning new tools and platforms.
