Background

British Army Training Unit, Kenya (BATUK) delivers world leading infantry training in Kenya with the Kenyan Defense Forces (KDF) under the Defense Cooperation Agreement (DCA) with the Kenyan Government.

Main Duties:

  • Receipt and issue of any items and other items for backloading.
  • Frequent periodic checks on items and provide documentation.
  • Preparation of the correct back loading documentation.
  • Ensure Certified True Copy action is carried out.
  • Booking and loading of containers for back loading in the absence of the Senior technical Stores Person.
  • Ensure the compliance of the stock maintenance programme.
  • Smooth day to day running of the back loading bay.

Secondary Duties:

  • Ensure all equipment and areas are kept clean and maintained daily.
  • Ensure filing and the collation of accountable documentation is processed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure hazardous stores are correctly marked and dangerous goods notes have been completed correctly for equipment to be back loaded.
  • The re-demand of all packing materials used by the storehouse.
  • Check that all discrepancies are processed correctly and handed to the S&R cell.
  • Check that all MHE is maintained in a roadworthy condition, with any faults recorded and reported to Barlow world.
  • Ensure that ISO containers for backloading have correct markings and items are packed and dunnage correctly.
  • Any other tasks as detailed by the Storehouse SNCO.
  • Deputise for the Senior Technical Store Person.
  • Carry out any other duties commensurate with the trade/grade as directed by the MLM.

Competences/qualifications/experience:

  • Planning and managing resources to deliver results.

Essential

  • Must hold certificate/Diploma in stores Management, Procurement and Suppliers Management or Business-Related Course from a recognised Institution.
  • An excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and Kiswahili. (Written/Oral)
  • Minimum C plain O Level standard in English both Written and Oral.
  • A minimum of one year experience in a similar role for an equivalent sized organisation.

Desirable

  • Valid Cat C Kenyan Driving Licence
  • Manual Handling Equipment Operator

Training Requirements:

  • Structure and function of the British Army.
  • Health & Safety trainings
  • Equipment Care.
  • Relevant Logistics Information System App.
