The Technical Sales Executive will be responsible for driving revenue growth by promoting specialized electrical and engineering products and services—including custom-built distribution transformers, SCADA systems, protection equipment, and ADMS infrastructure—to utility providers, EPC contractors, industrial clients, and energy agencies.

This role combines deep product knowledge with strong client relationship skills and a sharp commercial instinct. The ideal candidate will confidently manage complex sales cycles in power sector environments where technical accuracy, compliance, and reliability are critical.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Business Development

  • Identify new business opportunities across public utilities, REA projects, infrastructure tenders, private developers, and industrial energy users.
  • Proactively scout for leads aligned with Power Africa, Lighting Africa, and rural electrification goals.
  • Represent client in industry forums, expos, and technical partnership events.

Technical Solution Selling

  • Understand client pain points (e.g., transformer failures, voltage drops, maintenance inefficiencies) and align them with tailored technical solutions.
  • Present and explain product options such as oil-immersed distribution transformers, remote monitoring units, load break switches, and SCADA software systems.
  • Demonstrate value propositions including longer transformer life, fewer outages, and smarter grid control.

Proposal Development & Tendering

  • Prepare technical and commercial proposals for competitive tenders and direct negotiations.
  • Coordinate inputs from engineering, procurement, and finance teams to ensure complete and compliant submissions.
  • Monitor RFPs from KPLC, REA, government electrification programs, and multilateral projects (e.g., AfDB, USAID).

Sales Closure & Account Management

  • Conduct pricing negotiations, technical clarifications, and contract reviews.
  • Handover closed deals to engineering and operations teams with clear documentation.
  • Maintain client relationships post-sale and identify upselling opportunities (e.g., maintenance contracts, transformer accessories, upgrades).

Market Intelligence & Reporting

  • Track industry developments, regulatory changes, and competitor movements in the energy and infrastructure sector.
  • Maintain detailed sales pipeline reports, revenue forecasts, and customer interaction logs.
  • Share feedback with product teams to guide innovations and client-specific customizations.

Key Products & Solutions You’ll Be Selling

  • Distribution Transformers (custom-designed for varying load demands)
  • Transformer Repair Services (fault diagnosis and refurbishment)
  • Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) components:
  • Load Break Switches
  • Autoreclosers
  • Ring Main Units (RMUs)
  • SCADA and Protection Systems
  • Remote monitoring
  • Real-time data & fault diagnostics
  • Control automation for substations and mini-grids

Qualification

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Energy Technology, or related technical field.
  • Sales or business development certification is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in technical/industrial B2B sales—preferably in power systems, energy infrastructure, or electrical products.
  • Familiarity with energy sector stakeholders in Kenya and East Africa (KPLC, REA, EPCs, county governments, power utilities).
  • Demonstrated success in responding to complex tenders and securing major projects.
