Background
The Company is seeking to recruit experienced and responsible Truck Drivers to support its distillery operations in Western Kenya. The successful candidates will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of raw materials, finished products, equipment, and other authorized loads between designated locations while ensuring compliance with company policies, road safety regulations, and operational procedures
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Attendance: Be on duty as scheduled; no absence without prior employer/in-charge approval.
Truck Custody: Prevent unauthorized use, ensure the truck is used only for its intended purpose, and park only in designated areas.
Safe Driving: Operate the truck and trailer safely at all times.
Maintenance: Care for the truck and trailer as per standards, including routine service schedules.
Pre-Trip Inspection: Submit truck and trailer to the inspector before every trip from the factory site.
Traffic Compliance: Obey all traffic laws and speed limits.
Fuel Efficiency: Drive in a manner that meets minimum fuel efficiency standards.
Internal Speed Limits: Adhere to site-specific speed limits at every factory.
Internal Guidelines: Zero tolerance for unauthorized passengers, drunk/impaired driving, and PPE non-compliance; properly secure cargo to minimize sugarcane spillage.
Cleanliness: Keep the truck and trailer clean inside and out.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum O-Level/Form Four education for candidates with at least 5 years’ proven experience as a truck driver.
- Candidates with lower-level education will be considered provided they have at least 7 years’ proven truck-driving experience.
- Possession of a valid Class CE driving licence for heavy articulated vehicles.
- Ability to read and write will be an added advantage/desirable.
- Proven experience in operating heavy commercial/articulated vehicles.
- Good communication skills in English and/or Kiswahili.
- Clean driving record and good safety record.
- Experience in driving trucks within the sugarcane or industrial environment will be an added advantage.
- Ability to comply with company safety procedures, traffic regulations, and operational requirements.
