Role Objective

Our client, an events company in Kenya, is seeking to hire a dependable and safety-conscious Van/Truck Driver who will be responsible for transporting event equipment and goods from one point to another in good condition and on time, and occasionally transporting staff. The ideal candidate should have a clean driving record.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensuring timely, accurate, and safe delivery of event equipment and goods.
  • Verify the accuracy of items before departure and upon delivery.
  • Handle unexpected situations such as roadblocks and vehicle breakdowns.
  • Transport staff when required.
  • Follow road safety guidelines.
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance, including regular inspections, oil changes, and maintaining accurate delivery records.
  • Plan delivery routes and schedules in coordination with the logistics/events team to ensure efficient use of time and resources.
  • Inspect and maintain the vehicle to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of equipment and goods during transit to prevent damage.
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships by providing efficient, reliable, and courteous service.
  • Ensure efficient route planning to minimize travel time and fuel consumption.
  • Operate the vehicle in an efficient and effective manner while reporting any technical issues promptly.
  • Keep accurate records of all deliveries, including delivery times, locations, and items delivered.
  • Load and unload equipment and goods at event venues, warehouses, and client locations using appropriate equipment.
  • Collaborate with various teams to ensure proper inventory handling and reporting.

Job Specifications and Qualifications

  • KCSE Certificate; additional education or certification in logistics or a related field is preferred.
  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • At least 5 years of experience driving commercial vehicles, preferably in the logistics sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge is an added advantage.
  • NYS training is an added advantage.
