We are looking to recruit a Fiber Plant Construction Supervisor to oversee the installation and construction of fiber optic networks, specifically inside or outside plant (OSP) environments as well as managing contractors, coordinating field work, and ensuring projects are completed according to specifications and timelines.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE ROLE

  • Supervise and Project Manage Overhead and Underground contractors in the implementation of assigned work, including in-building Fibre plant Infrastructure.
  • Supervise on a daily basis main contractor’s work in the assigned area and maintain daily reports.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Local Councils and other regulatory bodies in the acquisition of permits for construction projects
  • Develop project roll out schedules and ensure work is done according to JTL construction manual and/or project design specifications.
  • Maintain daily and weekly construction progress project reports.
  • Develop, Maintain and Update As-Built documentation for projects assigned using Standard GIS Software.
  • Supervise and maintain quality standards as per JTL’s policies.
  • Keep accurate maps of JTL’s overhead and underground infrastructure in the assigned area.
  • Meet contractors daily to direct the day’s work locations.
  • Ensure that contractors’ invoices have the proper documentation and commissioning reports. (Maps, invoice, Permit Copies, BOM of materials used, commissioning sign off forms from JTL and Local Council Authorities.)
  • Ensure contractors practice all safety rules as pertains to Statutory Regulations, and not limited to OH and UG infrastructure construction and hardware, e.g. warning tapes, PPE’s, identification tags, etc.
  • Any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned to you from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

  • Minimum Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, Project Management or related field.
  • 5 years working experience in a network maintenance or plant construction role
  • Technical aptitude in electrical and telecommunications infrastructure and mapping/GIS Software
  • Project Management Certification, e.g. ITIL v3, PRINCE2 or PMP will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge of Network Documentation Systems and Software will be an added advantage
  • Good analytical skills.
